I've posted a picture heavy but word light AAR of the recent game Scrivs and I played of Hail Caesar using Dark Age Saxons and Welsh over on my blog
Most of the models are not mine I hasten to point out, mainly done by Scrivs and James Morris.

Thanks for the report. Great looking game. Our group played our first Hail Caesar game a few weeks ago with saxons vs. normans and we all had a great time as well. I think these rules work well for dark ages battles and give a little ebb and flow to the battle lines with fog of war ever present. We play again in mid January and I am really looking forward to it. It will be vikings vs. saxons.

Thanks again for sharing – Allen

Nicely painted figures. Unfortunately I did not get enough of the feel of the rules as I am considering purchasing them. But it looks like it was a fun game with lots of back and forth and things hanging in the balance.

Good looking game. Scrivs and James must derive some sort of pleasure from painting horses, since the two of 'em did so many.

Thanks for the feedback chaps.
@whitemanticore
The rules are very much a toolkit. Part of what we were testing is some rules to give a more "Dark Age" feel to them. They're great mechanisms for moving your soldiers around, but they really come into their own if you can invest the time and effort into characterful scenarios and rules that really give a period flavour to your games.
@PatrickWR I couldn't possibly comment on any pleasure James and Scrivs may get from horses;)

Nice figures. Is it just me or does one of the Saxon Horde have a Google Chrome logo as a shield pattern?

Late to the party, but these figures--especially the flags--are jaw-dropping. My 5-year-old son and I had a great time looking through the photos.
