I'm looking for a good English-language book(s) on the various models of aircraft built and flown by the Japanese army and navy circa 1938-45. Interested in usual models and variants but also including seaplanes and flying boats. Any titles or authors to recommend? Thanks in advance! |

Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War by Rene J. Francillon. I have quite few books in other languages and on particular units and aircraft too. Robert |

Jane's 'All the worlds aircraft' for the appropriate date is a good choice too!- if its available! |

Francillon is expensive, but the best all-in-one book available in English. If you just want the more common stuff, Gunston's Combat Aircraft of WWII has just about everything in it except for the very rare, developmental/experimental, etc. |

I like Japanese Aircraft Code Names and Designations by Robert C. Mikesh. It's an inexpensive soft cover book with an emphasis on all the code names applied by the Allies. It also includes nonexistent aircraft that received code names, as well as actual aircraft that were never given a code name. |

I agree with Kaos and Sindance: Japanese Aircraft of the Pacific War by Rene J. Francillon A very thorough book, with a lot of stats on each model, and 3-views on top. It's a classic. Buy it used! |

Oh
and if you want more like squadron (Sentai or Kokutai) histories and a myriad of excellent side profiles, I recommend Eduardo Cea's books. Check them on Amazon. Rolando |
