This year's 7TV Salute Participation game is inspired by the Piz Gloria assault from 'On Her Majesties Secret Service' and is tentatively titled '7TV: Where Angels Dare'. Build duties are being undertaken by David Marshall of TM Terrain. I've been posting progress on the Crooked Dice Forum, but thought I'd share here.

Here's the original DK cutaway of Piz Gloria:

Obviously it needed a bit of rethink to make it playable and practical in terms of build and storage. Below is my initial sketch. I've added an outside fortress wall and gatehouse to make it seem more of a villain lair – also see Inception. That also gives some nice gantries and walkways for goons to throws themselves off of.

picture

One thing I decided to get rid of was the iconic rotunda. Whilst pretty, it ate up a lot of space and created a barrier between the outside and internal space which I thought would slow down play. So we decided on a chalet style building for the main villains lair and really opened this whole area up. We've been working on some roof designs, but these will be fairly simple and thing will be open during play anyway.

There will also be a supporting pylon tower for the cable car (not sketched) to give it extra stability.

Here's my reverse skecth of the gate house and exterior walls.

This is the right side of the board. The main structure is coming together.

BASEBOARDS – LAIR and CABLE CAR
So most of the major construction now complete. The two small buildings are Pardulon Concrete bunkers as the external walls will also have a concrete for finish. The Cable Car can be seen here too – although that still needs to be weathered.

I've skied down from the Piz Gloria many times and it is amazing to see this. I proposed somthing with some superficial similarities for our club game for Salute 2013, but it lost out to another project. I'll be looking out for this on the day.

That looks nifty. Like it. Cannot wait to see it when its finnished.

DonLeg22 Dec 2011 11:31 a.m. PST

That looks great!

I've given some thought on how to game Inception. Maybe 4 separate game boards with events and outcomes on one determining what happens on the others…

7TV or Gaslight as the rules engine…

Very cool.

Cheers all!

Another update from David showing the laser cut windows for the villains lair. It needed large imposing but perfect windows- so ideal for laser cutting.

Looks stunning. Very creative and very nice.. it just screams.. super agents..

You will of course need lots of under dressed and toned lovelys to populate it.

Wow…just…wow.

A major update from David today with loads of pictures. The exterior is nearly done. Still a pinewood to add on the cable car section, but this will be a separate piece.

The interior of the lair – alpine room and control centre – are the last bits to do:

Generally speaking, I hate winter. But this layout makes winter look good. Outstanding.

The Propellerheads version of OHMSS is my 7TV theme tune. Kev and John's Spectrum game is great too. Kev's been busy painting our Time Lift Security team for that game I believe :) – as well as stuff for ours!

Colin Hagreen06 Apr 2012 9:52 p.m. PST

@Johny Boy – Captain Scarlet isn't a demo, it's a participation game – come along and drive that SPV!

Someone is going to hate me for this, but where's all the footprints in the snow?

It looks like there has been no activity at all since the last snowfall (last night?). Which is oddly disconcerting to me…
