First look at an upcoming 15mm line of current-era zombie apocalypse models. These are the first set of walking zeds, ten adult males, six adult females, three children, and a crawling torso!
Next up will be a set of ten or eleven survivors, probably about half armed with firearms, the other half either armed with close combat weapons like baseball bats or fire axes, or unarmed. Perhaps one with a crossbow. Probably see these in the first quarter of 2012. Stay tuned! |
Private Matter | 17 Dec 2011 7:30 a.m. PST |
What scale with these be? They do look nice. |
Henrix | 17 Dec 2011 7:34 a.m. PST |
Sweet stuff! Private, it's Khurasan – 15mm. |
Wolfprophet | 17 Dec 2011 7:44 a.m. PST |
"Private, it's Khurasan – 15mm." He does 28s too y'know. And shield transfers for ancients. however. I'd put my money on 15mm, since that seems to do the most for him. These are excellent looking figures. Will add some variety to the currently Rebel minis dominated market on Zeds. Btw, Jon, since you'll undoubtedly look on this thread again, The Ti mohnids Black Tigers are missing from the re-launched webstore. :) As is the Parasachnid swarm deal. Aside from that, I didn't notice any other things missing or in need of changing/checking when I was ordering this morning. |

First set of none fantasy Zombies I have ever liked – may a new period for 2012? |
Gunslinger | 17 Dec 2011 7:57 a.m. PST |
Frankly, I'd put my money on them being 15mm, because, well, the first line of his post says "First look at an upcoming 15mm line of current-era zombie apocalypse models." In my line of work, we call that a clue. :-P |
Dropship Horizon | 17 Dec 2011 7:58 a.m. PST |
Oh my, oh my! Like Andrew, the first 15mm Zombies that really work for me. Well done Jon. Looking forward to them. Cheers Mark |
Broadsword | 17 Dec 2011 8:06 a.m. PST |
Good looking zombies! It's nice to see the ladies and kiddies will not be ignored in this range. Wouldn't mind seeing some of Khurasan's 15mm sci-fi line in 28mm, though – specifically the Vespulid Aliens and Ursid Bearmen. Hint-hint. Al | ravenfeastsmeadhall.blogspot.com |
khurasanminiatures | 17 Dec 2011 8:06 a.m. PST |
Gunslinger, to be fair, I did add that in later per Private Matter's question, I'm just making the specs for the survivor group now so haven't been able to respond. Glad folks like them

Those are great. I also use the Khurasan Mystri Island zombies in modern games. I call them my autopsy/emergency room zeds. I painted the rags hanging off their bodies blue-green to represent remnant hospital gowns. |
khurasanminiatures | 17 Dec 2011 9:20 a.m. PST |
Good idea Roger, and as it's the same sculptor they would fit in with these quite well. As some of the Mystri Island zeds are in a state of serious decay, they might have crawled up out of the ground from hasty burials. |

One of these days I am going to have to break down and do Zombies
Just never have so far

combatpainter | 17 Dec 2011 9:43 a.m. PST |
Those seems nicely sculpted as opposed to stuff that is out right now in 15mm zombies. |
khurasanminiatures | 17 Dec 2011 9:49 a.m. PST |
TBH I think there are some very nice zeds out there right now, but I've been completely tempted over the past year or so to make my own, a total coincidence of course, not based on any new tv shows or anything! Resisted until about a month ago, but then broke down

Nicely done! Some of the best 15mm zombies I've seen. More gore for the horde. -Eli |

These are really great, and you're right, there are some really nice ones out
but from these pictures these are at the top of the pack! can't wait to see the survivors too! |
Psyckosama | 17 Dec 2011 11:07 a.m. PST |
Will any of the survivors have a cricket bat? :p |
Fabe Mrk 2 | 17 Dec 2011 11:14 a.m. PST |
Very nice zombie I will definitely be getting some to add some diversity to my rebel zombie hoard. Also would they be any possibility of getting some unarmed child survivors with maybe one or two armed ones? |

Dragon Gunner | 17 Dec 2011 12:53 p.m. PST |
Left 4 Dead, Tank, Spitter, Smoker, Witch, Hunter, Puker, Jockey etc
Resident Evil (Some of the Umbrella Corporations experiments) I know about copy right laws so they could be made to look like something else. |

Sorry to say, still don't follow, what's different about them? I'll look on the Internet to see the types you mean but they sound more like video game types? Not sure mini gamers want that. Also, in what is inspiring this range, a zombie is a zombie. Open to ideas though, so will check. |
Eli Arndt | 17 Dec 2011 1:03 p.m. PST |
I think he's talking about the various mutated zombies from video games. Hulkin zombies Bloated zombies Zombies that are predatory with talons and such Anything and everything that adds some mutated freakiness to the standard zombie template. |
Dragon Gunner | 17 Dec 2011 3:07 p.m. PST |
Yes the video game types so there could be some variety and tactics added to the shambling horde. Zombie games tend to all blend together and a lack of tactics makes them redundant after awhile. I am sure there will be people who will disagree like kyotebluer. Perhaps a poll is in order? Conduct a search on Youtube for examples. |
sharkbait | 17 Dec 2011 3:21 p.m. PST |
Those survivors sound familiar. The Walking Dead, perhaps? |
Eli Arndt | 17 Dec 2011 3:28 p.m. PST |
Sounds like a pretty typical spread of weapons. A combination of civillian arms. |
DuckanCover | 17 Dec 2011 4:29 p.m. PST |
Looks like a foray into zombies coming up in the New Year
Greens look great! Survivor types sound tempting as well. Duck |

"I'm happy with the ones coming out, don't need no mutant zombies !!!" Strongly disagree! Wargaming, just as video gaming, deserves a variety of Zombies. :) In pretty much any video game and in some rulesets like Apocalypse-Z involving zombies, some sort of special types end up born from the virus. (If it's a virus based problem of course.) Little more explanation on that though
The two main types that we can see a real physical change in are the "Bloated, acidic bile spewing"-types and the "Hulking, Tanker"-types. Needless to say, the bile spewing ones have very distended stomachs and would lumber like a really really fat guy. The "Tanker" types would be large, hulking beasts. Idealy, substantially bigger than normal humans or even normal zombies. For a good comparison, something built like twice the size of a normal person in terms of mass, though not necessarily in height. About x1.5 give or take for the height seems more usual.(So in 15mm scale, something that would scale to about 21mm-25mm tall, depending on the fear factor one wants to aim for.) I seen two main approaches with this one though. Some choose large, over developed arms and upper body to make it appear apelike. Generally being on all fours. Others chose the approach to make the legs and head equally developed to maintain proportion. |

It's a trend that keeps on growing in "modern" zombies. It's also good for crossover sales into post-apoc, other forms of horror, and even scifi. These more bizarre zombies can be pyproducts of mutations and not dead at all. They can be infested with alien parasites. They can even be demonicly possessed. Heck..they can be used as demons themselves. -Eli |
skinkmasterreturns | 17 Dec 2011 8:56 p.m. PST |
They are very nice. I would love to see some of the mutant stuff as explained above.I started project in 20mm,using Tyranid stuff from 40K for mutations, but 15 mm Zombies would put a cool twist on my Sci-Fi stuff that I've been getting into. |
SirFjodin | 17 Dec 2011 8:57 p.m. PST |
More zombies! More BRAINZ! |
doug redshirt | 18 Dec 2011 12:24 a.m. PST |
My zombies are of two types. 1. Is based on alien nanobots taking over someones mind by rewiring the motor control functions to a new minicomputer built into the victims mind controlled by aliens. Gives me an excuse to use unarmed gray aliens in games. 2. A military virus designed to increase regeneration of wounds. The side effect is the healing process uses up lots of energy. Making the person have an overwhelming need to eat. The larger the wound the more ravenous they become. They are driven to eat what ever they can or whomever they can. Yeah I know I over think it, but I have to have some kind of science for my zombies to work. Dead things don't move, they just rot. So anyway mutant zombies are a plus for my worlds. The aliens created them or the virus mutated. |

Hi Jon Excellent You need to do a skinny guy with a cricket bat and his fat mate, an American style cop in a cowboy hat, and Afican American Chick with a Katana and a boy with a pistol in a cowbay hat. |
