Just wondering. Seems odd. Or is it hidden somewhere I haven't looked? Thanks, Dan PS. By the way, there seems to be around 20 boards dedicated specifically to WWII (and labeled so). |

Wow. I guess the Great War lasted longer than I thought, from 1900 to 1938. Quite a span! :) Dan |

A bit of a history lesson here. History of TMP, that is. In the beginning, there was a WWI Discussion board, but the board actually covered everything from 1900 to the 1920s. Then there was a proposal, and a vote, and the board was renamed to the Early 20th Century Discussion (or something like that), and covers the entire span. Which means there could be room for a new board dedicated solely to WWI

To me, it will always be The Great War. |

Ditto speaks truth. Sorry Mr. Editor. FWIW I dont remember a vote either. |

What an odd decision! Certainly a rebaptism to The Great War is in order and then we simply stamp out all attempts to post stuff before 1914 or after 1918. This has the added advantage that the Board Prolifirators can then start shouting for an Early 20th Century Board and an Interbellum Board. |

I recall the debate all too well, as well as the side diversion into 'Battlewagons' etc. The current setup seems to work fine. It is hardly as is if we are deluged with posts about either WW1 or the whole early twentieth century in any case. 'Interbellum' is covered by the 'Interwar' boards. The whole lot are of course grouped under 'First World War'. |

While its seems stange, I think its broader to cover conflicts that overlap but seem unrelated (e.g. Russo-Polish, Finnish war, Russian Civil War, US expeditions into Mexico, interventions in Russia, the emergant Turkey vs Greece, Ireland). Only the western froint went quite on the 11th of November, elsewhere, all hell seems to have broken loose with the collapse of the 4 Empires ended by the war (German, Russian, Austo-Hungarian and Otterman). So its kind of difficult to pinpoint when the fighting actually stopped. There are also a lot of war memorials in the UK dating The Great War as 1914-1921. 1921 being when the treaties were actualy signed and so the war 'officially' ended ( literally it's not over untill the paperwork is done!). So wherever way you place the divide, there will be complaints! |

Well, now we have proved that the dead can walk, how about we ask for a special board for our bleriots, eindekkers and triplanes. |

You act like this is a rational decison. What has that got to do with it? I WANT A WW1 BOARD! |
