I posted a few photos of my Raiden Wildcats and Zeroes, along with some thoughts on potential CY6 scenarios. These are really very nice minis and a joy to paint. It seems I learn something new with each project, and this was the first time I airbrushed acrylics. It went rather well, I think. More photos to come of Dauntlesses, Devastators, Vals and Kates! link |

Nice! I like the Zeroes' color. I use Tamiyas IJN Grey, but at times I think it a bit too green
What did you use to paint the lines in your Zeroes? A pen, or a brush? Rolando |

Thanks, Rolando. Actually, what I did there was after priming with grey, I used a black technical pen to "preshade" the panel lines. Then I airbrushed a mix of Floquil Concrete lightened up just slightly with some Dirty White. The black from the lines showed through just enough to be visible and I think effective, without being overwhelming at this scale. Plus I didn't have to do any washing, keeping the overall mini clean, which was an effect I was going for. |

Some Vals posted today, along with a brief "how to paint" outline. link |

The Raiden Val is indeed a gem. I had bought them months ago, and only recently did I look at the minis closely (who could care much about such a slow taget airplane?) Very good detail, and I was surprised to see the wheels are integral with the airframe. Your cockpit glasses are very tidy! Do you paint the frame afterwards, or paint each window one by one? I used to do them the first way, then noticed that the second approach wasn't that much more difficult or lenghty, and my results look a bit tidier. I can make the lines appear a bit thinner, not so clunky. Rolando |

I do the overall darker sky blue first, followed by a drybrush of lighter sky blue. Then I do the canopy frame stripes, with the white dot going on last in each indvidual pane. You're right, it's one of those that is probably six of one, half a dozen of another. |
