There are some pics of my latest project on my blog at:

The minis are mostly from Oddzial Ozmy and Pit Road. I am making diorama style stands that will be used as battalions in a Battle of the Bulge game. I have 7 stands done so far, so more pics will be posted soon!

Brilliant stuff.
I prefer the last snow one, looks more like something ON the ground than normal ground painted white.

Make sure you post on here when more pics are done.

Size Matters!

Yeah…that snow is more realistic, but more time consuming and messy. Maybe I should add some drifts using that method to the other stands?

Looks great Sudwind. Nice to see others out there using 2mm/3mm :). Robert

Amazing work! I have to echo Angel Barracks' sentiments about the snow effect – would love to see a tutorial on how you did that – looks really effective.

Very interesting the way you made each one a diorama. I'd like to see more, especially infantry. Are you using commercial rules or your own?

As dioramas they are beautiful but Im not sure I could get used to the buildings moving around the gameboard.

Working on my own rules for this. I knew someone would complain about the buildings on the stand…next it will be the old, "why not just use counters?" Sigh…

Well Sudwind. I don't think it really is a negative. Just something new and not what some of us are used to. I dont think that most games would be having the scenery moving around. Most are stationary LOL. Robert

Ok, either you said too much or not enough now, Sudwind…

How do you envision your ruleset?
What troops, OOB, do you intend to field in game for the Bulge?

You caught my attention now :-)

They are indeed very pretty. I have often experimented with multiple vehicles on a stand for larger scale games, but in the end I often find I am too cheap to put more than a couple on:)

Absolutely lovely.

Ditto. But perhaps the great look would overcome my initial reluctance.

Very nice.

Great to see more of the smaller size figures (that makes no sense but you know what I mean).

Love the idea of a large base with mini diorama being the unit as I first thought it was the scenery. As for the buildings moving – I'm relaxed if the board can cope when it comes to villages etc. being on the table and occupied.

As for counters – tell to use them as tiddlywinks (or bases for 6mm figures)!

Sudwind12 Dec 2011 5:25 p.m. PST

No problem about the buildings comment….just kidding…but I knew it would be an issue ;)

I am glad that the stands are appealing to folks. I worry about whether or not they would inspire others to make similar stands for a game. It does take some time to do, but the results are worth it for me.

I will let you guys see some terrain for the game concept as soon as that comes together. I am planning on using GHQ 4" terrain maker hexes, but things such as forests, towns and hills will have to be modeled as separate pieces to be placed on the table, perhaps on top of felt underlays. This will allow removal for base placement as the game is played and the units move. I envision the towns on the table being modeled at a smaller scale than that on the troop bases, out of necessity.

They look nice indeed. What are the prices for mini's in this scale? Could anyone post pix of the mini's next to something that gives a sense of size? (A quarter, or a dollar bill, or something.) I am intrigued…

@ Tuscaloosa – it's generally $4 for a pack of 15 ground vehicles or infantry stands ($4 for 8 aircraft normally), but Picoarmor (not sure about the UK retailers) has smaller packs available for less.

Here are some tanks on (Canadian/US-sized) pennies:

Very impressed, I have a 6mm Pz Div, but I do like the 4mm.

When I mean div that is at 1 to 1 scale!!!! MAD I know.

I am rebasing them as Spearhead to make a Corps.
