What that marine sergeant is really saying is, "Quit gawking and get a move on, private!"evil grin

I like it. I'm going to pick up some to use as small aliens in 28mm.

Haywire, yeah, now we need a hand-like alien: "STOP HITTING YOURSELF. WHY ARE YOU HITTING YOURSELF?"

Boromirandkermit10 Dec 2011 5:10 p.m. PST

This looks very similar to my Occulites… same colour and everything as the Palaudis Tribe, just without arms and a mouth… not sure how I feel about that.

There might be some similarities, but I like SirFjodin's wayyyyy better!

Looks more alien than the Darwin Games figure, which has all too recognizable mouths, hands and feet.

Actually, if anything it looks like Terla:

But I don't mind, I won't be doing her in 15mm.

Interesting furry oculites… havent saw them before. Dont worry, I havent used them as inspiraton. As for mine Ocular I used this Star Control 2 alien creature named Penguin Cyclops for ispiration:

I hope you all remember Star Control 2. Good old DOS game about space exploration and war. My creature is just furry animal in style of old PULP aliens.

Have a look at this photo where I compare Octopod, EarthForce Marine and Ork. So you can compare Ocular to orc now.

Alright,

I see a ball with an eye stawk. Each has it's own character beyond that.

No discredit to anyone's creativy here but that's like trying to argue that a pear, a plumb and an apple all look too similar. Common, basic design.

Occular = 15mm fuzzy orb with smooth eye stawk and tiny feet.

Ocullites = 28mm w/ corrugated eye stawks, arms, feet, spears, shields, varying breeds.

Terla = eye stawk + sorts of spongey main body with semented eyes stawk.

Some alien forms are jus classic.

Sure and I don't mind either. But Terla was the first! :D
We played her in MDRG at my gaming club last week. She didn't last long. :( :D

Spathi were even earlier than all of our creatures :) :) :)

Love me some Spathi!

I almost feel challenged to throw in my own eye stawk alien.

jpattern210 Dec 2011 7:23 p.m. PST

Eli, it's "stalk," not "stawk." "Stawk" is juts wrawng.

:)

Eli Arndt10 Dec 2011 7:25 p.m. PST

Ugh…and I even know that. Sorry fingers went on autopilot. Don't try to compose intelligently when you are not well.

Sorry for posting that. Could not resist!

headzombie10 Dec 2011 9:57 p.m. PST

Oh yeah, I agree, I was just pointing out that if you like that… You can also get it in 28mm. ;-)

the 'Occular' looks more 'birdlike'…perhaps a 'pet?'

The 'Occulites'…look more like 'hairy coconuts with big mouths' and spears…that happen to have an single EYE-stalk…(unlike a BEHOLDER etc)….

As to the other 'single-eye' critters….well, I guess I'd become a 'traveling monacle salestentacle'…

Need crabby arms… :p

Cacique Caribe11 Dec 2011 11:47 a.m. PST

SirFjodin,

I suggest the name for it should be ICU (as in "I see you").

Dan :)

Like that Dan

Maybe with a different paint job Ben would be more relaxed over the likeness?

comstarhpg11 Dec 2011 12:47 p.m. PST

Hey I like that critter very different but similar to most one eye well critters, a bit like starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dianoga

Ah yes, the dianaga. Love that beasty. Easy to convert up. Just do a central eye STALK grin and some separate tentacles to move around your board.

rolgan11 Dec 2011 1:46 p.m. PST

I am not seeing Ben's problem, they really are not similar and there's definitely nothing to trigger an IP suit.

They aren't my bag, none of them no matter how you slice them! I think they are well done, but a bit naff. But, what do I know?

jpattern211 Dec 2011 3:26 p.m. PST

Just do a central eye STALK
Good man. :)

Now if only someone would make these into miniatures:

The fun we could have!
