Seeing this beautifull model…

… wonder to ask if there were USA or British capture tanks with the same modification by the germans.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

That has to be a model lash up. There's no stowage space for ammo, and the crew must have been really happy falling over the engine covers as they served the gun. The silhouette's a bit…high, too.

I'd like to see a photo of the real thing.

That a model of a real vehicle? Or creative license?

That being said, the Germans did add lots of guns to captured vehicles – for example, French

Or even their own tanks

And, given its a Russian tank, where would they put the gas?

According to link at least one conversion done in Saxony in 1945:

Another interesting conversion was done by Kampfgruppe Kienast in Saxony in 1945 – 88mm Flak 36 gun mounted on a modified T-34/76 chassis.

Damon.

Oh nice. Now I know what I can do with my spare 88 and that T-34 with the busted turret.

Real or fake, they took off the exterior gas tanks.

The T34 mounting an 88 is a fake; it even says so in the forum where you found it.

Kaoschallenged08 Dec 2011 6:19 p.m. PST

Whats with the now you see it, now you don't photos? LOL Robert

nebeltex09 Dec 2011 2:48 p.m. PST

yes, i would think so… 88s were usually dug in as well as properly camouflaged. putting one on an upper tank platform would seemingly increase mobility, but the standard mobility for the weapon (SdKfz. 7) was perfectly adequate. more so than any "lash-up" this would have allowed… germany invented plenty of things during this era, but they rarely tried to "re-invent" the wheel. they did attempt to mount the 88 on a modified chassis of their own, but it was not adopted for production.

I wouldn't want to stand on a platform five feet above the ground, in combat.

When you compare the two photos there are a few similarities and differences for sure. Robert
