What colour should the cords be for the bearskin caps worn by the rank and file of the Grenadiers a Cheval of the Imperial Guard. I've seen them described as yellow or orange but sometimes they seem to be depicted as gold. The Rousselot plates seem to show them as a mixture of red and yellow.

Was the same colour used for the saddlecloth edging? And finally were the aiguilettes the same colour or were they always gold?

Same color as the edging for both. Aurora – kind of a orange-pink.

Thanks VonBlucher. I'm still painting up those Minifigs I bought from you. It's certainly keeping me busy. Not sure if the Grenadiers were among them. I've got so much stuff on my painting table that I am losing track.

auore for troopers, gold for officers – the red / gold aiguilettes – NCOs

Thanks von Winterfeldt. I think I have found an appropriate orangey colour so I can carry on painting tonight.

Possible help on the colour aurore link ?

Femeng209 Dec 2011 5:16 a.m. PST

Aurore is supposed to be the color of the sun at dawn. So go ahead and try to match it.

SJDonovan09 Dec 2011 6:12 a.m. PST

It's been a long time since I was up at dawn (and even longer since I went to bed at dawn). I've gone for an orange colour that stands out nicely against the blue coats and saddlecloths. Possibly not historically accurate but it looks pretty.

Same color as on the chassseurs a cheval that I painted.

Thanks John,

I'm quite close to that but my guys have ended up a bit more orange.

How are the 1806 Prussians coming along?

Stephen,
Pretty good. Take a look at some of them here on Paul's Blog. He was kind enough to post them there.

These are mostly the command stands for now.

That's really nice work John,

Glad to see you haven't lost your touch. I look forward to seeing what the army looks like.

All the best

Stephen,
Thank you for the kind comments, I hope I don't disappoint.

I still have lots to paint with little time to do so.

John
