Has anyone done reviews for the above. I am very tempted to pick up a box set for a Flames of War heavy Pzgrenadier coy. I have already picked up a 251/1D Halftrack set, and the infantry riders look very nice. I assume that the infantry are just as nice. So how do they look and how do they stack up against Battlefront, Forged in Battle, and Old Glory 15's Command Decision? Any photos would help. Thanks and salut y'all!

I was very disappointed with the 15mm psc germans. try forged in battle.

Their AFV's and half-tracks are very good indeed – especially for the price! The infantry figures are good, but a little smaller than the likes of Peter Pig.

I have a set. They're not as good as the old glory miniatures I have – they're a wee bit smaller, and a lot smaller/slender than the rather porky peter pig minis.

The faces lack expression/interest and the poses are quite unimaginative and quite repetitive (especially the MG teams). Also there are no panzerfausts, knackers, shrecks etc. The radiomen and medics are characterful but the officers leave a lot to be desired as they are just pointing NCOs (no pistols, binos etc).

Saying this, for the price they are really good. They paint up nicely and the details are super crisp (better than hand sculpted miniatures).

I think that as a few platoons or mixed with other figures they are brilliant but an entire company made from them will get very bland looking very quickly.

So concensus seems to be they are okay for the price. Well that suits me. I'm planning on using them for the bulk of my troops and will add officers, NCO's, Pzknacker's, faust's, and schreck's w later on anyway. Thanks for all the responses and salut y'all!

Pics (may be too late by now ;-)).
The 1/72 versions, but the poses are the same in 15mm:

PSC Russians/BF Germans (for size & proportions):

I don't have a photo, but my 15mm CD russians are a much closer match to my 15mm PSC russians.

I'm hating the big heads on PSC's offerings so far…. In my opinion one of the main benefits of sticking with plastics has generally been (though there are exceptions!) not having to put up with freak show anatomy.

Big heads? I have painted a lot of the 1/72 Russians and cannot say that I have found the heads to be an issue.

Hornswoggler08 Dec 2011 9:50 a.m. PST

Look pretty big to me….

Look pretty big to me….

That link is for the 1/72 scale boxed set. Those would be very big compared to 15mm. PSC has a saller sized set that is 15mm. It's confusing bcause the poses are exatly the same in both size.

From what I understand PSC "digitally" sclupts these so changing the size is every easiley done by computer.

Wolfprophet08 Dec 2011 1:53 p.m. PST

The size isn't an issue. It's the bland poses. They don't look like they're fighting. They look like they're half-heartedly re-enacting.

Like the one lazy guy in a wehrmacht uniform who's only in the uniform because he thinks it's supah kewl to be dress up like a German for a three day weekend event, even though he can't be bothered to pretend that working the bolt on that Mauser means the difference between life and death during the 'battle' scenes.

Hornswoggler08 Dec 2011 4:57 p.m. PST

That link is for the 1/72 scale boxed set.

The proportions of the head compared to the rest of the figure doesn't change whether the figures are the 1/72 or the 15mm version – BIG !

VonBurge09 Dec 2011 5:18 a.m. PST

They then would be better termed as "disproportioned." Just using "Big" alone would indicate to most folks that the entire figure was overall too large.

Hornswoggler09 Dec 2011 5:27 a.m. PST

If you read my original post (?) I was complaining about the heads being big. I think most people would understand that to mean in relation to the rest of the body….

VonBurge09 Dec 2011 9:47 a.m. PST

Sorry…was focused on the latter post with the link to the different scale.

ever seen some one wearing a period helmet then you will have noticed that they do make you look like you have a big head especially the US ones which are huge with their wooden inner.

I do however agree that the poses are a bit wooden and some of the look a bit odd, but the strength of the PSC are its vehicles which are lovely rather than its infantry which will do

CptKremmen13 Dec 2011 5:42 a.m. PST

Personally I am a fan of PSC vehicles, but don't like their infantry.

Forged in battle infantry are superb and if bought in large boxes, stunningly cheap.

I also really like peter pig figures, big and chunky (like me)
