Folks, sorry. Naff question, but I have tried to answer it myself. Is 1/48th scale the same as 28mm? If not, what is? Thanks (Somewhat embarrassed) D'Ewell |

Is 1/48th scale the same as 28mm? No. Depending on who you talk to the right answer varies but is something around 1/56. (I now await others to correct me!!) See also: TMP link |

Its not a naff question at all, it is something that is fairly moot – as Margard says, most will accept 1/56th, but 1/50th and 1/48th are all used with 28mm figures. I guess for the sculptor 28mm is something of a subjective size, whereas scale of course is entirely objective, or should be! |

If a 28mm figure is really 28mm tall then it would be 1/62, at least for height. If it were 28mm to the eyes and had a naturally proportioned head it would be 1/58. Most gaming figures won't fit a ratio scale because different parts of the body are made to different scales, particularly the head and face and the hands. A 28mm (really 30mm) figure should have a 4mm head, certainly no larger than 4.25mm but 5mm or even 6mm is more typical. Hands can be any size. |

The short answer to the OP is no. I can recall 28mm being equated to 1/65th, but of course we have scale creep and so-on so now it is 1/56th up 1/48th. |

Sounds more like a British OB. |
