I'm hoping that someone can help me with some sources for the battle of Alcaniz. I've done the usual; Google search, Napier, Oman, but each of these sources gives pretty short service to an unquestionable Spanish defeat of the French. Anybody read Blake's Bio? Also wondering if anyone has walked this field. I was there last week and urban sprawl has pretty much overcome the battlefield, making things a bit hard to figure out. Was I correct it placing the hill of Las Horcas where the cement factory now stands? Is Sta Barbara's still in existence? Tried to find it, but without luck. Many thanks in advance. |

Jeff7777 There is a brief description of the action and a map in THE PENINSULAR WAR ATLAS by Colonel Nick Lipscombe (page 126 & Map 50), which might be helpful. |
