We're happy to announce the official release of The Harook!

Very little is understood about the Harook; they are unpredictable and have an unknown agenda. Although they have an affinity to other avian species of alien life, it would appear that they have disdain for all others, especially humanity. Their speech patterns, consisting of a complex series of squawks and screeches, do not seem to live up to the advanced technology they bear on the battlefield. This leads some to believe that an advanced, as of yet unknown, intelligence directs them.

These avian aliens come with 10 unique poses to a pack and stand slightly taller than the average human. The models were sculpted by Pedro Navaro and painted by Spacejacker.

Check 'em out HERE.

Congrats! They look great.

So what are you working on next?

Coyotepunc and Hatshepsuut03 Dec 2011 2:55 p.m. PST

Those are awesome! I wish I was doing sci-fi right now. Those would also be excellent as halfling-sized aliens in 25/28mm.

nothing03 Dec 2011 3:10 p.m. PST

Up next for the Harook are some special weapons options and a few other things.

Stay tuned…

Redroom03 Dec 2011 3:12 p.m. PST

congrats, they look great

Very nice – great idea and super paint job.

These look the start of a great range and I wish you well for future releases.

"Up next for the Harook are some special weapons options and a few other things."

Nice. Are the special weapons for them going to be more kinectic or energy based? Or I guess the better way to ask that question would be, would we better associate the look with some sort of infantry hefted plasma cannon, or a rocket launcher-type deal? Or something else entirely?

khurasanminiatures03 Dec 2011 3:29 p.m. PST

They're cool, good luck with them!

AVAMANGO03 Dec 2011 4:56 p.m. PST

They turned out great, i hope thet really sell well so that you can fund a few more alien races in 15mm.

Thanks everyone,

The Harook have been fun to work on with Steve and I am excited to be able to continue to do so.

The Harook are going to be developed along a higher tech angle with familiar weapon roles being handled based on that higher tech level for the most part.

These look very, very cool.

Looks like I got hit with a bug. Didn't mean to post that twice. It seems to have posted the original and the edit.

Sorry for that,

-Eli

These are really cool models and a truly impressive start for a fledgling company. Pedro did a tremendous job sculpting these too.. Tons of detail but none of it too finicky so it's relatively easy to paint. With 10 poses, these are also perfect skirmishing minis. Can you tell I liked painting them? :)

ThorLongus04 Dec 2011 11:27 a.m. PST

Did anyone else notice any anomalies with the mad robot shopping cart or was it just me?

arngrimson04 Dec 2011 11:45 a.m. PST

ThorLongus do you mean when you ordered the harook it came up with the price then payment method then under that s&h (p&p) at the bottom? Coz when I paid paypal only had the $7 for the minis & not the $7 for s&h (p&p).

Eli Arndt04 Dec 2011 11:53 a.m. PST

If Steve hasn't picked up on this yet, I'll email him straight away.

Thanks for the heads-up folks.

I was charged 7.67 per pack instead of 7.00, then I was charged Illinois state sales tax, I could be wrong but I thought no sales tax on purchases over Internet unless you were from same state

Eli Arndt04 Dec 2011 12:18 p.m. PST

I have passed the information on to Steve and he is looking into it.

Thanks again for the heads-up.

nothing04 Dec 2011 12:23 p.m. PST

There was an issue with sales tax being improperly applied.

It's been fixed. Refund on the overcharge has been sent.

They will be energy based.

My thanks to everyone who has supported Mad Robot. The Harook launch was a huge success and another batch are on their way from the caster.

I've also heard from Pedro Navaro and he's beginning work on some more Harook goodness this week. Look for some additional releases sometime in January.

Wolfprophet06 Dec 2011 4:42 a.m. PST

Hurrah! I'm just glad I got in my four packs before they went out of stock. Great work Mad Robot and even better on Pedro for doing such great looking figures. If they're that good in pictures, I can't imagine how good they'll look when I get some in hand for a closer inspection.

JRacel06 Dec 2011 12:25 p.m. PST

I meant to order some, but got side tracked by my wife and when I went back they were sold out!!! :(

I guess I will be waiting for that next shipment! Glad to see they sold so well.

Eli Arndt06 Dec 2011 12:36 p.m. PST

Worry not Jeff, there will be more ASAP! grin

Thanks,

-Eli

Wolfprophet06 Dec 2011 3:50 p.m. PST

Jeff, I hope you manage to get some soon and post pics of them after you paint 'em. I always love to see how different the same figure can look when painted by either you or Spacejacker. :)

Better not let her read that! grin

JRacel06 Dec 2011 7:49 p.m. PST

Wolfprophet,

There is no comparison between my painting and Spacejacker, he kicks my butt every time. I love his colors and details. I just can't find the time for such things in my schedule, so I have to make due with my faster methods. I get decent results that are wargame quality while he gets works of art.

@porfirio rubirosa, she knows and just laughed since she knows it just delayed the inevitable. Not to mention she likes birds, so these appealed a little more to her than most of my stuff, especially the space bugs.

Gunner Dunbar07 Dec 2011 12:22 a.m. PST

Brilliant, will put in an order on pay day.

SpaceJacker07 Dec 2011 3:19 a.m. PST

JRacel- Thanks for the kudos, coming from you, that's a massive compliment! I'm with Wolfprophet, I'd love to see your take on these and I'm always looking out for your stuff. Get on those Harook! :)

nothing07 Dec 2011 7:19 a.m. PST

There will be a Harook painting contest sometime in January. Details to follow.

Got my two packs yesterday – very nice. Lots of nice detail – especially the weapons. Can't wait for the next release!
