Our 15mm Earthdoom line will be released in 2012 and will feature mankind's army, the TerraForce, struggling to defend its colonies from invasion by the humanoid Intruders, who are like Greys but more conventionally militant (that is, wearing some armour and using ranged weaponry) and very tall because of their weirdly long legs, and simutaneously from attacks upon Terra itself by the ferocious Aranae, hideous spiderlike enemies. The TerraForce uses power armour and an array of weapons to fight, and the basic MBS (main-battle soldier) is the Corsair, as shown here. There will be a variety of poses and weapons options for the Terraforce superheavy infantry. The two corsairs shown here have "burners," and when they resort to this weapon, better stay out of their frontal arc! (These are prototypes and the final rocket/jetpack looks slightly different.) Steve3d is the guy bringing these to life. Stay tuned for more details, should be fun!

Nice. Hmm. You could almost make a book or a film out of that background
;-) |
khurasanminiatures | 03 Dec 2011 11:09 a.m. PST |
Well, captainquirk, the Aranae are overrunning Terra itself, so there's that difference! |

er, leap! Very nice, these definitely go On The List. Early 2012 or later in the year 2012? |

Yeah, I'm kind of afraid of Khurasan Fatigue actually, too many things previewed all at once. But I get excited about these things and have the urge to share it with other people who may be interested! Because my kids have become jaded, it's no longer "wow, that's cool dad," now it's "oh, yeah, say, can I get on the PC now so I can play Call of Duty?" |

"Because my kids have become jaded, it's no longer "wow, that's cool dad," now it's "oh, yeah, say, can I get on the PC now so I can play Call of Duty?"" Tell them to play Halo and Dead Space instead so Daddy can watch and get more ideas for new products. :) Also, somehow I think this new line will be prefect for fans of the X-com games. |

I always dread reading something like that! Why, does the armour look like something in that game? |

I don't have a purpose for them, but they are quite nice. |

Having invested untold hours on the X-Com games – no the power armor is not remiscent of anything in the game

"I always dread reading something like that! Why, does the armour look like something in that game?" No, but you see
X-com started a pretty good groundwork for future generations of ideas surrounding an alien infestation/invasion. In most of the games, you end up working your way up from soldiers in little more than cloth uniforms(Your resistance fighters or even better for uniformity, the Neo-sovs would work to interpret this well.) up to better small arms and harder suits. (Say
Federals or Exterminators would represent this well.) up to having tougher suits. (Which would be represented well by the forthcoming Exterminators in space suits but the above design surpasses anything humans get in the games as I've yet to actually see power armour in one of them Except for alien power armour in one of successor games, UFO: Afterlight.) The fact that in those games, one superior alien race generally uses mutants or lesser aliens, or even human worshipers to fulfill the auxiliary or even most main combat roles breeds the idea that in this new line, people who are fans of X-com and UFO series games and want to do them on the tabletop can make use of several of your human forces to represent human remnants at various points of development in the conflict and the new "Greys" will make great representations of the superior force behind it all while the Aranae would likely end up serving well as their underlings. That's of course just one way I can see people using these figures once they're released. :) I'm sure others will have a thousand other possibilities. |

As we're talking about computer games, another one worth mentioning in this context is Starcraft. It was actually the first thing I thought of when reading this thread, before I got to thinking of Starship Troopers (which was dumb of me, because I've never even played Starcraft – other than the boardgame – but I have read Starship Troopers and seen the movies). It's got a similar trio of races, with the humans using power armour as well. And I never realized the parallels between Starcraft and Starship Troopers until just now. Although of course, Starcraft parallels can also be drawn with 40K and the Alien vs Predator universe, so I may just be reading too much into it. |

I like to think that Starcraft actually draws on a lot of our favourite Sci-fi races and makes a nice, sound trio. The Enigmatic Grey, the Human and the Bug, all with their own special twists. Like
the Zerg are accused of being a blatant rip off of the Tyranids, and appearance wise, they're pretty close, but from a fluff standpoint, they're very unique and frankly half as frightening as the Tyranids or even the Arachnids. If you really haven't played it though.. Do it! The game is over a decade old, but there's a very good reason it's still being made and still on the market, even as a sequel has come out. Also, can't believe I left off a compliment for the power armour. They're an excellent design. The little sensor bits on the front of the of the dome really help. |

Stryderg | 03 Dec 2011 4:07 p.m. PST |
These look like good candidates for a Posleen scenario (John Ringo books). I just need to figure out how to cover the table centaur-like aliens. |
khurasanminiatures | 03 Dec 2011 4:10 p.m. PST |
Actually Stryderg, if you don't mind tripodal centaurs, I've got something coming up you might like! Species 84 are the enormous tripodal reptilian centaurs who are far and away the most powerful race in Dimension X -- more powerful than either the horrible Timonids or even more horrible Maggotons. |
moocifer | 03 Dec 2011 4:24 p.m. PST |
Very nice. Shame they aren't 6mm though .. |
ThorLongus | 03 Dec 2011 4:36 p.m. PST |

Dragon Gunner | 03 Dec 2011 4:41 p.m. PST |
The best power armor to date and I am looking forward to this line. |
Barks1 | 03 Dec 2011 5:01 p.m. PST |
Damn, that's excellent PA. |
rolgan | 03 Dec 2011 5:09 p.m. PST |
I am with Stryderg, nice ACS. And while tripod reptilian Centaurs are nice, they just don't seem to fit. You refer to them as enormous, which is troublesome, as Posleen are horse-sized, which is how purists will want them, shotguns, 1 mm Railgun, 3 mm Railgun, Hyper Velocity Missiles, and then the God Kings
Nothing against the awesome product Khurasan provides, but I just don't see Species 84 providing Posleen. |
Joep123 | 03 Dec 2011 6:13 p.m. PST |
really nice Jon; I want some Power Armor for my Neo Soviets. These look like they would fit right in. Great stuff as always; Joe |

Ron W DuBray | 03 Dec 2011 6:40 p.m. PST |
same problem all designers of power armor have human legs do not have a 6" gap between them at the hips so every one makes them taking a dump/squatting or stepping funny.. |
Wolfshanza | 03 Dec 2011 7:12 p.m. PST |
Now, those are nice ! |
28mmMan | 03 Dec 2011 7:38 p.m. PST |
"designers of power armor have human legs do not have a 6" gap between them at the hips so every one makes them taking a dump/squatting or stepping funny" True
there is that
but when showing a figure in the small scale as this there should be a small measure of suspended disbelief
it is power armor after all
guys all jacked up to crush space bugs
I can live with a gap. But you are right, that is a common design issue. |
doug redshirt | 03 Dec 2011 7:45 p.m. PST |
I like Near Future, but I can see these being in use by another 30 or 40 years. I also like the Posleen Wars too, and was thinking why not get some power armor and painting them in bright colors like in the book, Posleen see in different wave bands and camo doesnt work on them. So why would camo work on other alien races that can see into higher or lower wave bands. Like knights of old you could paint your colors on your armor so people know who you are. Also was thinking of Drakes "North World" trilogy and the power armor in there. Or even a nice retake on Space Hulk. |
Wellspring | 03 Dec 2011 7:50 p.m. PST |
In battletech, the arms are inside the PA suit and the arms on the suit are controlled by neurohelmet. Legs reach to the knees of the suit. Most other PA suit concepts just ignore the problem. |
khurasanminiatures | 03 Dec 2011 7:55 p.m. PST |
There is no gap, there are protective plates in the front and back. If you are naughty, hold the legs upside down and peer at their hineys you can see the crotch coming to a point. |
infojunky | 03 Dec 2011 10:30 p.m. PST |

. Looking forward to it. |

I like to think that Starcraft actually draws on a lot of our favourite Sci-fi races and makes a nice, sound trio. The Enigmatic Grey, the Human and the Bug True. It's really a very classic trinity in sci-fi. Playing the Starcraft board game (which was surprisingly fun once we got over the very steep learning curve) highlighted this fact nicely for me. I'll be very interested in seeing the Intruders once they come along. |

khurasanminiatures | 04 Dec 2011 8:34 a.m. PST |
Hmm, sounds like Starcraft uses exactly the same factions I planned to. Maybe I should change it around? To late on the greys although these are actually not little guys with big heads, and on the humans of course. But the Aranae have not been designed yet. |
Eli Arndt | 04 Dec 2011 8:56 a.m. PST |
Jon, I wouldn't change a thing. Your sample background fluff is just that. It's a nice context for you to plan your projects in and a creative motivator. You may end up creating forces that are analogous to those in Starcraft, but I am sure they will still be different enough to stand out on their own. What's more, people will use them outside of the context in which they were developed. Again, I say do it. Let people play Starcraft with them or not. It's the consumers' choice. You're just making pretty figures for them to use. -Eli |

To late on the greys although these are actually not little guys with big heads, and on the humans of course. But the Aranae have not been designed yet. If you mean you want to distance yourself from Starcraft, that certainly wasn't what I was trying to achieve. IMO, that trinity of races is kind of a classic one that goes beyond the Starcraft setting. As evidenced by Starship Troopers. Besides, I don't think the Zerg are very spider-like. More akin to Tyranids (and, by extension, Alien Xenomorphs). The Protoss are also kind of a mix of Greys, 40K Eldar and Predators. |
