On a scale of zero (none) to 10 (infinite), how would you rate your resistance to starting a new period or genre?

Connard Sage29 Nov 2011 11:56 a.m. PST

mad monkey 129 Nov 2011 11:57 a.m. PST

3ish.

anleiher29 Nov 2011 12:00 p.m. PST

Not wishing to be difficult, but it would depend on the period or genre.

GoneNow29 Nov 2011 12:02 p.m. PST

If there is another player willing to start too? = 0ish
If I am on my own for starting it? = 3ish

Jovian129 Nov 2011 12:02 p.m. PST

Depends on the period really. If I have zero interest it is right there at 10, if I have some interest the level goes up as the deals on the figures get better. If it is a fun game and I play it in a demo, then it goes toward less resistance. If I demo a game/period and it sucks, it goes back toward 10.

John the OFM29 Nov 2011 12:05 p.m. PST

Does adding someting new to what I already do count?
Like adding Vichy to FoW, or melding FoW with Junta?

I will never say I am "finished" with adding new periods or genres. I thought so 4 years ago, and then I am suddenly painting British 8th Army 15mm figures and tanks.

Make me a 5.

Waco Joe29 Nov 2011 12:10 p.m. PST

4-5

Jakse37529 Nov 2011 12:16 p.m. PST

10, but only cause of budgetary restraints.

consectari29 Nov 2011 12:25 p.m. PST

About 5. No real interest in starting something new, but would consider it if it meant more playing time.

Dynaman878929 Nov 2011 12:28 p.m. PST

0 – I start new ones all the time.

Now, if we are talking about buying my own figs for them…

Mako1129 Nov 2011 12:29 p.m. PST

I agree with Kyote, e.g. no money, so a 10.

Sparker29 Nov 2011 12:39 p.m. PST

I wish I had some….

About a 5.

Personal logo jrbatso Supporting Member of TMP29 Nov 2011 1:02 p.m. PST

0. I am always starting new projects and leaving old ones unfinished. If it wasn't for committing to run games at conventions I probably would never finish anything!

Given up for good29 Nov 2011 1:06 p.m. PST

is futile!

Such a butterfly am I…

Flat Beer and Cold Pizza29 Nov 2011 1:20 p.m. PST

A four… maybe.

Grand Duke Natokina29 Nov 2011 1:21 p.m. PST

For FIW, say, a 8 1/2. For ancient Hittites--tho I find them exciting archaeologically--0.

Wartopia29 Nov 2011 1:22 p.m. PST

7

cavcrazy29 Nov 2011 1:41 p.m. PST

5….maybe a 6, could be a 7 but 8 is more likely.

flooglestreet29 Nov 2011 2:01 p.m. PST

7 I am happy where I am, but do want to embellish it with new armies.

Sysiphus29 Nov 2011 2:06 p.m. PST

7 as well. Have collected and nearly painted most of the armies I want to play.

DeanMoto29 Nov 2011 2:18 p.m. PST

Absolutely no resistance – I'm open to all genres and scales, even – wait, we're talkin' only 28mm hsitorical skirmish, correct? evil grin

IronMike29 Nov 2011 2:27 p.m. PST

Right now, about an 8.

lutonjames29 Nov 2011 2:29 p.m. PST

No money and haven't painted everything I have, so a 9!

Ron W DuBray29 Nov 2011 3:12 p.m. PST

what lutonjames said X2…….:)

and add in the fact there are no mini gamers within an hours drive from me that I know of……

altfritz29 Nov 2011 3:38 p.m. PST

jdpintex29 Nov 2011 8:53 p.m. PST

Depends upon the genre and whether I have any interest in it to begin with.

Something that I'm interested in and with nice miniatures – 0

Lowtardog30 Nov 2011 3:25 a.m. PST

A lot better these days so an 8

advocate30 Nov 2011 3:37 a.m. PST

5

John the Greater30 Nov 2011 6:35 a.m. PST

Over the years my resistance has grown greater, or at least the voices have grown fainter. Maybe 6 or 7.

Oh, wait. Those Bolivian Chaco War figures look cool! I have to go now…

Scale Creep Miniatures30 Nov 2011 6:36 a.m. PST

Currently preparing for a Spring Cleaning which will include dropping numerous periods and all sizes (not scales!) except 15mm and 6mm for land battles (and making one exception for 25mm LoTR). On the chopping block are 25mm FIW, 20mm Spanish Civil War, 25mm Cowboys, 20mm World War II, 25mm Misc (SciFi/Pulp/Fantasy)….

So, 10

Personal logo Stosstruppen Supporting Member of TMP30 Nov 2011 7:59 a.m. PST

Earlier this year 0 now its a 4-6.

rampantlion30 Nov 2011 8:22 a.m. PST

4 or 5, much lower if it is a group project.

Huscarle30 Nov 2011 9:52 a.m. PST

Probably a 6, I've got far too much stuff already, without the need to add further…but oh temptation, "the only way to get rid of a temptation is to yield to it."

Kaoschallenged30 Nov 2011 11:52 a.m. PST

D. Oh Wait…… 'bout a 3. Robert

J Womack 9430 Nov 2011 7:39 p.m. PST

Mark: Let a brother know what you got to dump, yeah? Be a mensch.

I rate my resistance in ohms. But for this, -10

Scorpio01 Dec 2011 11:04 a.m. PST

Seven to eight. Once the local group actually gets into it (actively playing for more than a month or so) that drops to a three or four.
