Hello TMP!

We just wanted to let everyone know that our very first 28mm (1/56 scale) hard plastic set – USMC Infantry – for our Alien War range is now available to purchase!

picture

The Marines come in a 24-figure box set (including 24 25mm round hard plastic bases). There are a variety of helmets (both open and closed), and bare head and 8-point cap options. Weapons include the standard M46 rifle, M-46 with underslung M-504 grenade launcher, M-46 carbine, and the powerful SAW seen above! There are also loads of extra ammo packs, attachments, and backpacks.

This is our first set in a planned SF range that will also see releases for USMC Hardsuits (40mm tall power armor), Alien Bugs, German Panzergrenadiers, Chinese Imperial Infantry, Female Marines, Vralk Warriors (our first intelligent alien species), and many more over the next few months.

This set has an MSRP of $29.95 – but there are also 4-set and 8-set deals to help you build your force quickly.

Pop on over to our site to check them out:

Also, while you're there – sign up for our newsletter and we'll keep you up to date on the latest releases!

COOL! I have been looking for some techy looking marines for my latest Tomorrows War project. These look like they will fit the bill nicely!

Forager28 Nov 2011 11:40 p.m. PST

Got a trial box. Didn't realize it didn't ship until mid-January until I got the order confirmation e-mail, though. No worries. Anyway, good luck to Defiance Games with this initial set and I'm looking forward to your future releases!

Formerly Regiment Games Fezian29 Nov 2011 2:36 a.m. PST

Am I missing some extras in the sets or something? Why would I get 8 squads for $199 when I can get 2x4 squads for 2x$99, or $198 USD?

Stealth100029 Nov 2011 2:58 a.m. PST

Look the best 28mm sci-fi troopers I have seen.

Wolfprophet29 Nov 2011 3:09 a.m. PST

"Am I missing some extras in the sets or something? Why would I get 8 squads for $199 when I can get 2x4 squads for 2x$99, or $198 USD?"

You're not getting 8 squads for $199 You're getting 8 boxes, which is 16 squads or 192 men and a roughly $40 USD savings over 8 individual boxes. The middle offer is 4 boxs/8 squads/96 men.

That said. I love that SAW, except for the rear of it. But if I get some figures and decide I hate the rear of the weapon that much, it wouldn't hurt to try to mate part of the rifle to the SAW to get a normal pistol grip. Personally, I'll wait till those female marines and the hard suits come out and pick up a box of each I think. Can't afford to get into anymore projects at the moment!

Formerly Regiment Games Fezian29 Nov 2011 3:37 a.m. PST

Wolf – fine, squads, boxes, whatever. You missed the point of the question. 2x4 is cheaper than 8…it looks like to me.

Wolfprophet29 Nov 2011 3:59 a.m. PST

Don't mind me. I'm nearing the end of my waking cycle. Lol. Yeah, you're right. It's a buck cheaper. But I don't think they counted on people grabbing two of the middle offer to get as many figures as the last offer. Honestly, I think the last one is a little out there for marines(Wouldn't be for say…Zombies.) Not even a 40K IG player wanting them as proxies could use that many models in most games.

WillieB29 Nov 2011 4:10 a.m. PST

Now these look really nice!

tnjrp29 Nov 2011 4:28 a.m. PST

Not bad, but I think I'll wait for the Chinese (and after that, the Nordics). The Vralk interest me as well but I can't recall if I've ever seen a concept of them.

Tiakwarrior29 Nov 2011 5:03 a.m. PST

WooHoo!

alien BLOODY HELL surfer29 Nov 2011 6:03 a.m. PST

Do you have pics of the actual model of the saw gunner rather than a render? He looks pretty good. I'm going to wait for the bugs though – which really should have been done first ;-)

Earl of the North29 Nov 2011 6:04 a.m. PST

UK stockist. evil grin

Any idea when these will be available in the UK?

Looks good. I'm waiting on a USMC & Bugs deal though.

nvdoyle29 Nov 2011 6:49 a.m. PST

I love that SAW, except for the rear of it. But if I get some figures and decide I hate the rear of the weapon that much, it wouldn't hurt to try to mate part of the rifle to the SAW to get a normal pistol grip.

Gotta second this. Can't stand leafblower machineguns. And who decided that the poor SAW gunner needed to hump around a grenade launcher, too? Why do you hate this guy? grin

Still going to pick up a box, though. :)

wminsing29 Nov 2011 6:52 a.m. PST

No longer my scale, but a fine looking mini!

Warlord29 Nov 2011 9:37 a.m. PST

The render looks good but I would like to see pictures of the actual models on sprue (maybe some built with out paint) – are there any? Do you have any comparison shots with other miniatures?

Thanks,

Warlord

Andrew May29 Nov 2011 11:44 a.m. PST

Can we see a shot of a human hand holding a sprue please?

billthecat29 Nov 2011 11:52 a.m. PST

What Dentatus said….

Jovian129 Nov 2011 11:59 a.m. PST

Nice models and I'm looking forward to new releases as well. Best of luck Tony!

GreatScot7229 Nov 2011 1:18 p.m. PST

I have gone from tepidly apathetic to guardedly excited about this line of products. If the marines turn out well, I will probably pick up infantry- and power armor-sets throughout the line. Am very curious to see the armored Germans and the Chinese infantry.

Mooseworks829 Nov 2011 1:19 p.m. PST

Is this the former Wargames Factory crew?

BlackWidowPilot Fezian29 Nov 2011 2:14 p.m. PST

"Is this the former Wargames Factory crew?"

Yes, it is, and from the look of things, without the added "entertainment value" of in-house Machiavellian intrigues and skullduggery.evil grin

I'm a happy boy!

alien BLOODY HELL surfer30 Nov 2011 4:45 a.m. PST

I didn't realise the painted marine wasn't a manufactured final figure either but just a 3d print type of thing. Until I see a proper manufactured figure, a sprue and good pics of them I won't get too excited. Ready to order doesn't mean in production and ready to ship – as we well know.

Sane Max30 Nov 2011 6:27 a.m. PST

I remember a company a few years back that showed a 3d render of some sort of ancient warrior – a Greek or something?- and took loads of pre-orders on the strength of that render. After months of waiting the figure finally arrived, and the reality was pretty poor in comparison.

Whatever happened to them?

Pat

fatesficklefinger30 Nov 2011 7:40 a.m. PST

In need of some "actual" pictures of the sprue or built miniature before I part with my cash! Look good for my setting, so will wait and see.

Andrew May30 Nov 2011 12:19 p.m. PST

@Sane Max
LOL!

Lobsterback30 Nov 2011 1:32 p.m. PST

I am guardedly excited about this line. I too am waiting to see the Panzergrenadiers and the Chinese…

skinkmasterreturns30 Nov 2011 5:44 p.m. PST

How well will these scale up against WF Shocktroopers? :)

dwartist01 Dec 2011 3:39 a.m. PST

I've been asked if i'd be interested in painting some marines – of course I replied' yes'. I'll post a full review and wip on the blog when I receive them.

castellan04 Dec 2011 1:16 p.m. PST

I am in!
The Infantry and bugs may fit in with my Starship Troopers stuff.

Sindri04 Dec 2011 4:41 p.m. PST

I'm waiting for the German guys.

Sindri20 Dec 2011 4:16 p.m. PST

When will the Germans be released to see?

Space Ghost31 Jan 2012 9:24 p.m. PST

Anyone heard anything more on these?

alien BLOODY HELL surfer01 Feb 2012 7:04 a.m. PST

hmm, Deja vu? hope not, whilst not fussed about these, am interested in those bugs shown as concept art……

Prince Rupert of the Rhine01 Feb 2012 8:41 a.m. PST

I'm intrested in the concept…but I need to see the sprue and models built from the sprue. The stuff these guys produced as Wargames factory usually looked good before release only to turn out to be poor with shallow detail and arms that never looked right.

byram112 Feb 2012 7:46 p.m. PST

Update for those interested:

link

alien BLOODY HELL surfer13 Feb 2012 7:02 a.m. PST

so the update in effect, is the same as before 'we'll have these out soon guys, honest!'. I want those bugs, the marines can wait, EM4 future warriors are bloody good sculpts and cheap enough for me to use those, I want some decent no tyrranid bugs. If they come out and the detail is at least ten times better than the old WF stuff I'll chuck some serious shekels their way :-)

billthecat13 Feb 2012 12:33 p.m. PST

There is a big market in (in our little world anyway) for affordable 28mm alIens/xenos/bugs/'nids (aka: non-GW plastics)… a gauranteed success IMHO. If somebody would produce a 'not spacehulk/alIens' game it would sell like hot-cakes (?)… Since nobody seems to want to do this, we will all take sets of plastic marines and aliens…
Also, releasing these together would generate more interest and sales.
I am waiting for pictures of the product itself and/or reviews.

Mithmee13 Feb 2012 1:35 p.m. PST

How do they scale with GW's Imperial Guard?

Caesar14 Feb 2012 3:00 p.m. PST

"Since nobody seems to want to do this, we will all take sets of plastic marines and aliens…"

Mantic is doing what you want.

billthecat14 Feb 2012 4:01 p.m. PST

Just noticed this…. not so sure about the space-rats, but I am looking forward to 'Project Pandora'…

Wolfprophet15 Feb 2012 8:10 p.m. PST

"How do they scale with GW's Imperial Guard?"

There's a picture with a partially assembled Space Wolf next to the prototype. It's just a few posts up. That should tell you since SMs are shorter than IG by a couple millimeters for some silly, god forsaken reasoning.

alien BLOODY HELL surfer16 Feb 2012 3:44 a.m. PST

So, we're due to see the sprues today I believe?

alien BLOODY HELL surfer16 Feb 2012 11:16 a.m. PST

Still waiting…………………

alien BLOODY HELL surfer17 Feb 2012 5:30 a.m. PST

thank god for Mantic eh?

Caesar17 Feb 2012 7:14 a.m. PST

LOL.

ThorLongus17 Feb 2012 7:18 a.m. PST

looking forward to mantics pandora/hulk game
although their plastic corporation poses leave me a little cold
