I organized this unit for a quick game of Tomorrow's War. Here's a link to what I've done so far:

My son's challenge to a game made me rethink what I was doing and I came up with a neat looking force all of my own. Pretty cool how kids can make you rethink things. grin

I started trying to make a "book" accurate US Infantry Platoon, but I created something new and unique for my own campaign. The Strike Section matches up nicely with a basic USCM section, but it adds armed robots to the mix. I also attached an Ares class mech to the section to give it some extra hitting power.

And yes, the battle suit is a VOR: The Maelstrom Ares class battle suit. It makes a nice looking mech in 15mm.

I also have pictures from last night's game that I'll post later today or this week. It was a tough fight to say the least!

Looking really good Tgunner. Nice o see the Rebel vehicles in something other than my normal desert pattern!

I'll have to look and see if I still have any unpainted Areas suits for you. I think all I have left are the painted ones I did for my Union force.

Thanks for posting.

Thanks Jeff! I'm hoping I can scratch up another one or two of the things. That's more than I would ever field in VOR but I can easily see them making it onto the board in a Tomorrow's War game. If you want to part with any of them let me know- Jeremy wants one for his force!

I commented on your market board post, but I'll repeat it here, Iron Wind still makes the Ares suits, $28 these days:

They do make a pretty good 15mm mecha, don't they?

Don't forget to enter 'em in our Strike Force competition!

Cool.

It is nice to see a Hummer that isn't beige.

Tgunner27 Nov 2011 10:49 a.m. PST

Most of my terrain is forest and jungle with some hills and buildings tossed in. Beige just wouldn't work on my boards! Besides, I'm kind of bored of desert stuff anyway.

And yeah, that Ares battle suit makes a great 15mm mech:

You can get them from Iron Wind Metals for about $28 the last time I checked. A bit pricey, but pretty common for 28mm.

That is a really cool mech

I've got a couple of those sitting around for the same purpose.
If you want to balance out the poor thing having the cannon and gatling on the same side, with a bit of filing the missile launcher can sit on the left shoulder to even the weight out a bit.

Very nice repurposing of that 28mm armor. I dig the Apaches, too ;)

Best,
JBR

Gee… I wonder why you like those Apaches John?????? evil grin

I love them too. They were a real joy to paint and they look pretty sharp. I really like the weapon sprues too! I was pretty torn about what toys to mount on them.
