Thought I'd mention this book by A L Berridge since I've just finished the second in the series 'In The Name of the King'. Both are good, exciting swash-buckling adventurers set in the Thirty Years War in the France of 1635-40. The first is a kind of 'French Resistance' tale set during the Spanish invasion of the borders from Wallonnia. The second involves intrigue in Paris and the battles of La Marfee and (of coruse) Rocroi. How historically accurate they are I'm not in a position to judge. But they are exceptionally good fun. |

looks and sounds quite interesting . Does the author give some quotes of sources she used ? |

There's a comparison of sources in a section at the back. The conceit of the book is that it is a collection of interviews taking place twenty years after the events in question, with the novel being used as a comparison to other historical sources – a bit like the Flashman papers. |
