Painted up some of my resin Watcher bots at the weekend. Will be adding to the squad and trying another colour scheme when I've got more cast up.

Those look really good and as has already been said, your painting is amazing. Nice clean colors and shading . . . .

I can't stop watching them. :-) Excellent paint jobs on all the figures.

Looks like a floating R2D2.

Add me to the list of potential buyers.

Mako1116 Nov 2011 10:43 a.m. PST

Those look cool!

iain blackstone16 Nov 2011 11:35 a.m. PST

Thanks for the comments! I've a production mould made for these so I could make them available but I'd like to hold on a week or so till I've finished a much larger "Overseer" bot that's in the same style, and release them together.

jpattern216 Nov 2011 11:57 a.m. PST

I'd buy three or four of them, too, plus an Overseer.

TeknoMerk16 Nov 2011 12:58 p.m. PST

I'm also interested an Overseer and some Watchers. You can't have enough bots.

28mmMan16 Nov 2011 5:35 p.m. PST

Grrr the bots are quite nice.

Double grrrr the painting is nicer.

…ok…the painting is ridiculously good…damn nice colors…

Who makes the yellow guy next to the Garn?

Almost looks like a ninja turtle! :)

clkeagle16 Nov 2011 5:42 p.m. PST

Those are awesome, Iain. I might use them as "spotters" for smart missile launchers (letting them fire around buildings, over mountains, etc).

Sweet thanks for the bump Chris!

Funny thing…when I first looked at the mini I thought the dome face was a frog throat/inflated vocal sac and the helmet bits on top were eyes…Space Frogs!

How do they look next to 28mm figures?

28mmMan17 Nov 2011 8:08 p.m. PST

I like these for classic death bots.

Like those found in Gamma World and the like…those wasteland and ruins rovers that act as hunter seekers.

These would make much more sense than humanoid terminators, at least in my book :)

iain blackstone18 Nov 2011 5:13 a.m. PST

Yeah Death bots would probably be a better name than Watcher. The initial idea for these was what would a Dalek-like machine look like if it was purely flight based. That's why they're pretty large, I was thinking inside is a life-support module for a wee alien :)

I like them as Dalek-esk types…maybe sculpt a pepper box without a cap that the globe could settle onto?

Thanks for the comparison pic! I'll definitely need to get a few of these if/when you make them available.

Crimelord19 Nov 2011 10:45 a.m. PST

Reminds me of Disnesys the black hole. The little floater guys with their heads and float stims pulled in.

Scorpio19 Nov 2011 2:23 p.m. PST

I was actually reminded of the interrogation droid from the original Star Wars.

The fact that it is bringing up all these great ideas definitely means there's a place for these figs in the marketplace, IMHO.

Battle Miniatures Emporium19 Nov 2011 3:51 p.m. PST

Very nice.

There is a similar shape found in this little BCA-11/X training droid

"I like them as Dalek-esk types…maybe sculpt a pepper box without a cap that the globe could settle onto?"

I was thinking about sculpting a straight Dalek in 15mm earlier this year but it was all the hemispheres on the body that put me off :) Probably just keep these as floaters.
"Overseer" is finished and have the first casting from the mould. Will assemble it later and post some pics.

cheers
