So, I sold three Necron Destroyers – Pianted. Now I have to ship them. The arms are fragile so here is my proposed shipping plan:

Use double sided tape and stick them to the bottom of the box. Then fill box with puffed rice, top with bubble wrap an index card telling buyer to open from top.

Alternatively, I could super glue them to the base of the box, fill with puffed rice, and top with bubble wrap.

I thought about separating the figures with some sort of bracing arrangement but thought that would run the risk of creating a "spear" that will simply damage the figures.

Has anyone used double sided tape to ship delicate items? Any other suggestions?

Here is my suggestion. Rather than use double sided tape use a loop of packing tape. This will allow the miniature to float a bit vertically but not side to side. That combined with the puffed rice should do the trick.

I've used this method many times with excellent results.

The problem with connecting the figure with either glue or double sided tape is it subjects the figure to more shock upon impact and if the figure is jarred loose it is now free to migrate around.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the tip.

Take a lesson from the Chinese.

Poke two holes through something stiff like cardboard and then run wire or twist ties through the holes over the base and back to the back side of your stiff material. Twist the ties/wire nice and tight.

I have done that for a lot of things which are much more fiddly than anything GW will ever produce and they always make it unscathed. If you have an intricate base that you are concerned with damaging, use a bit of foam cushion to pad the wire from scratching the base.
