Here are some photos from a recent WW1 game depicting a battle fought near Loos in 1915.

British troops rise from their trenches to assault the German line. British artillery pounds the enemy wire and trench line.

Quite possibly. We only determined that the Division on this flank was a 'good' regular army formation. It performed quite well in capturing a sector of German trenches and dealing ruthlessly with the inevitable counterattack. So it may well have been The Guards Division.

On the far flank the New Army Division also did well to seize part of the German lines, but it had suffered heavy losses and was grimly holding on.
