Napoleon discussion Board ?

Disco Joe10 Nov 2011 8:40 a.m. PST

Yes I was wondering as to why this was on the Napoleonic Discussion board myself.

Fifty410 Nov 2011 8:42 a.m. PST

Well, clearly since this is TheMiniaturesPage – and Star Wars is now a legitimate board of equal standing with the Napoleonic Board – why should we deprive those who are here to discuss miniatures and wargaming from all the new Star Wars conversations?

After all, it's not like there aren't thousands of other forums out on the interwebby devoted to Star Wars. Right? Right?

11th ACR – thumbs up

11th ACR – that is awesome.

I like the pod race, myself.

CmdrKiley10 Nov 2011 8:51 a.m. PST

If there's anything that was really great about the prequels, I'd say the lightsaber fights were excelled that of the original series.

Royal Marine10 Nov 2011 9:05 a.m. PST

If there are light sabres then where are the light dragoons? This is a Napoleonic Board after all!

richarDISNEY10 Nov 2011 9:19 a.m. PST

Qui-Gon/Obi Wan vs. Maul fight.
OR…
The starfighter scene at the beginning of Ep.3.
Or…
The scene where Anakin is fighting with the internal struggle about going to jelp/hinder the jedi with Sidious.

Napoleon discussion Board ?

They both have an Emperor?

Sane Max10 Nov 2011 9:22 a.m. PST

The starfighter scene at the beginning of ep3? That was the most atrocious example of 'Hey, this is CGI, we can do anything' I have ever seen. It's awful.

Since this is on the Napoleonics Board, I will choose the 'Walk toward each other shooting a lot' battle in ep2. It was silly, but good.

I disagree with the lightsaber fights. Sure they're *flashier* but they look way too choreographed. There's no intensity.

Tell me that Luke flipping out in Return of the jedi doesn't have more of an impact than the "climactic" 10 minute lightsaber fight in episode 3 that looks practiced? Maybe I just cared about the characters in ROTJ more.. I dunno.

The starfighter scene at the beginning of ep 3 was pretty cool, I gotta admit. Though there's soooo much going on it's too difficult to even tell who's who. Although the whole reason for the war is so muddled anyways, I can't even remember who was fighting who now.

I thought the action sequences in all the prequels were pretty solid. But when the characters start to talk, suckitude occurs.

flooglestreet10 Nov 2011 9:48 a.m. PST

I go with 11th ACR, although the scene were Jar Jar almost gets flattened by a tank moves me to melancholy because of the lost possibilities.

Enry MItchell10 Nov 2011 10:18 a.m. PST

why not post in the appropriate forum?

Captain Gideon10 Nov 2011 10:32 a.m. PST

flooglestreet I had a feeling you would say something like that.

Whichever ones ended up on the cutting room floor.

Desert Rat10 Nov 2011 12:13 p.m. PST

The scene in Ep 2 with the CGI critters where Padme's top keeps getting shorter and shorter.

David Manley10 Nov 2011 12:41 p.m. PST

My favourie bit was the scene where Jar jar Binks was blown to pieces. Oh wait….

Little Big Wars10 Nov 2011 12:44 p.m. PST

Compare Tartakovsky's fight scenes (the Clone Wars shorts) to those in the actual films… there's literally no contest.

OK, gotta admit – that was a good scene.

Pan Marek10 Nov 2011 1:56 p.m. PST

As far as I am concerned, now that I've watched quite a bit of the animated TV "Clone Wars" with my 6 year old, the animated show far surpases the prequel movies.

Well this part was cut from Episode 4 but you need to know about the first three to get a clue:

I think it was when Napoleon Vader invaded the hostile solar system of the Russians, and Jabba Kutosov sent his Imperial Cossacks out on ranging bounty hunitng patrols.

Bleeped text has any of this Star Wars rubbish got to do with the Napoleonic Discussion Board?????

Fifty410 Nov 2011 4:42 p.m. PST

1815 Guy – see my post above.

Bill deems Star Wars to be a legitimate miniature wargames topic – as legitimate as Napoleonic wargaming. So I feel it's important for us to include you guys in the discussion of Star Wars topics (the same ones you can participate in on – oh yeah – the million Star Wars forums on the web!)

The end of the opening battle in Ep 3. Specifically "I think we lost something."

Obi-wan chasing Jango Fett through the asteroids in Ep 2.

"Oh, and wipe the Protocol Droid."

While silly, R2's battle in the landing bay early in Ep 3 also ranks up there, and explains why he has no fear in the later movies. Looking at some of those scenes in 5 and 6, R2's apparent random antic suddenly make sense: he adopts an evasive movement pattern that rarely exposes the same face to fire for long. He only gets hit when he's locked into a terminal or an X-Wing.

When the droid army came over the hill in their gravpanzers, and then deployed a crapton of combat droids. You know, the part they used in the very first trailer for Episode 1.

After that trailer, I was sorely disappointed by the actual movie(s).

Maxshadow11 Nov 2011 7:58 a.m. PST

Im guessing they are trawling for extra posts to keep their board.

Martin Rapier11 Nov 2011 9:39 a.m. PST

I rather like the bit where the newly suited Vader trashes all the med droids.

Not so much the prequel, but very funny when the news of the Death Star getting wiped out is released.
