I am looking for examples of battle damaged armor and hasty field repairs I can model on some 15 mm scifi tanks. I am seeking a very ragged look for a warlord / pirate landing force.

This one looks pretty bad, but I bet it was repaired!

Mission kill definitely. Crew most likely survived. Ship the vehicle stateside and it'll be rebuilt to the latest M1-whatever standard and sent back to the sharp end in about 6-8 weeks.

I saw a doco on an M1 refit facility – amazing what Uncle Sam can salvage.

Lion,

Did the photo source indicate the weapon that did that?

Probably done by the own crew with thermite if I had to guess

If it burned it was scrapped. It affects the armor plating making it virtually useless. Salvaged for parts and components, but most everything was scrapped and recycled once it burned.

Yes! heat and affective armor do not mix.

Actual battlefield repairs are rare. Here is an added plate:

On right as you look at it. I assume to cover a hole.

I think having a semi-wrecked tank towed by a recovery vehicle would be wonderfully humorous.

Thanks DyeHard the welded plate is exactly what I was looking for something that says I bought this tank at the arms bazzar and I can't get parts for it.

Thornhammer that is a wonderful idea and will make it on the game table at some point…
