We are three games into our Bag the Hun campaign. The fictitious 68 Sqdn RAF is part of 11 Group based out of Middle Wallop in Hampshire flying Hurricane Mk1 and is led by Squadron Leader Bertie Cartier. scrivsland.blogspot.com |

Excellent. I've always wanted to run this campaign but there's little interest at my local club :O( Thanks for the report. I'll keep an eye on your campaign as it develops! |

Always love a simple campaign as it makes the players choose when it is time to call it a day. Great book on the RAF during the Battle of Britain is called "Fighter Boys". It is all about the average pilots, not the great aces. The guy who went up every day and did his job. Also about the support of the people on the ground. A good easy paced read. |

We still have a running one
.from about 3 years ago We set up a spit, a hurricane, a m109 and an me110 squadron. Never hated a fictional charactor more than that damn me110 junior ace squadron leader! we also made the hurricane have the turn bonus and gave the 110 a dive bonus over the huei |

I ran the Finest Hour campaign with my last cadet squadron. However, we used CY6 to fight the battles. We ran it semi-historical, as 234 Squadron (Spitfires), which was transferred from our local station, RAF Pembrey, to RAF Middle Wallop in mid-August 1940. The cadets loved it (mainly because for a couple of hours each week, they got to call themselves 'Pilot Officer') and casualties among them were relatively low. However, the attrition rate on Spitfires was apalling, with repeated wizard prangs and bailings-out. Despite starting the campaign with twelve aircaft and six spares, they were down to six serviceable aircraft after just five days in action! Sadly I switched squadrons, so the campaign came to the end. However, my successor is also a wargamer (and a TMPer), so he'll hopefully continue the campaign – Skirmish Wargames very kindly donated a free copy of CY6 to the cadets, which was incredibly decent of them. In the meantime, I've just had the first game with my new squadron and they seem even more keen than the last lot, so I'll probably be kicking off the Finest Hour campaign again soon. |
