Back from FALL-IN! 2011, which was sparsely attended due to weather, Halloween and the rumors of weather. I had the usual fine old time, and provide the usual fine old After Action Report (AAR) on my website, the Third Point of Singularity: link FWIW, enjoy! Walt |

Anyone who complains about "tank parks" in Flames of War has never seen this:
Elmo's family travels were minimally impacted but as long as Fall In remains on Halloween, we will not be back. Having to return on Saturday as opposed to Sunday shortens the con by one day making it really not worth the effort. |

I heard we were only scheduled for Halloween for two years, and that next year will be a little more sane. |

Walt, Sorry I could not make it up there. With 3 kids under 6 and it being Halloween weekend as well as my wife's birthday and son's birthday, the last two years have not been doable. Hoping for good news about dates next year as I hate having to miss the HMGS shows. David Splintered Light Miniatures |

well I doubt it could be Halloween 2012, as that falls on a Wednesday. So will it be held in October
26-27-28? or November 2-3-4? That remains to be seen. |

November 2-4, I dont expect anyone to recall, but I posted the dates somewhere here on TMP about 3 years ago when he who must not be named signed the three contracts. As far as i know, 2013 contracts have not yet been signed, but I dont know that for sure

Hey, just to make all you Easterners feel better, we get some nasty white stuff out here in sunny California, too. And it can even mess with our conventions from time to time – we call it fog! What do you mean about earth quakes? The ground shakes a little, a building or two falls over – and we get back to the game. Nice report and hope all had a good time but I must say the games shown in the photos don't look very enticing, kind of bland visually. Whatever happened to games being visual feasts? |

Dates are November 2-4. There were reservation forms for Fall In 2012 at the front desk and the dates posted there were November 2-4. |

> the games shown in the photos don't look very enticing There were a few VERY good games there. The ones that come to mind were. An AWI game with Teddy bear fur – very impressive work there. A Roman and Celts(?) game was very impressive – the wall of the fort was 5 foot long or more. Next to the Roman game was a WWII table that had a rotating game through the day. Trench Wars was very well done – the pictures I've seen did not do it justice really. I don't remember any other knockout presentations but most of the Fireball Forward games were very nice (the jungle one was impressive, the Calais game I was playing in till the snow chased me away was very well done as well)

Overall a very calm and easy going show for me. Picked up a few SCW odds and ends from Big Steve at Age of Glory (3 T-26s and another unit of Guarde Civil) The find of the weekend in the flea market was a very nice copy of Simmons Games "Bonaparte at Marengo" for $38 which alone made the weekend a success for me. Also picked up some Foundry Napoleonic command packs to paint and sell for the upcoming holidays. Was also lucky to find some metal Perry ECW and ACW mounted command for same. Found the small softcover version of the latest WH40k rulebook for $1. New copy of "The Ninth Configuration" DVD for $5. Two packs of Warlord bloated goodness ie Dead Livestock for my upcoming 25mm SCW game. Lastly another nice find in the flea market namely a solid resin 25mm Italian or Spanish belltower, painted with removable roof (for a sniper of course) for $10. Picked up the Warhammer Historical Gladiator rules from OMM. Looks like a decent game. Will use my 54mm stuff with these. A really nice book and priced reasonably at $32. As far as playing, the Berezina game was fun. Also got in a pick up game of FOG 25mm Bactrian Greeks vs Ach Ach Persians with a good friend from Long Island. Overall a great time reminiscent of the Fall In conventions of old. DM |

Veterans Day weekend. well Dan, not according to Andy..its the FIRST weekend, November 2-3-4, 2012. NOT the second weekend
Nov 9-10-11. Apparently contracted several years ago by PP. Unless, of course you are right and Andy is wrong? |

Don: I picked up the last Warhammer Historical Gladiators right behind you in line. I've given it a cursory read and I'll be using it for the same purpose (my large 54mm gladiator collection). Nice effort from WH. I would be interested in that SCW game you are referring to, will it be at Cold Wars? Walt |

Busy with a new company but I'll do my best to have it ready. DM PS Also picked up 3 1/144 Can do Elephants for East Front. |

I think the weather hit us worse than Halloween weekend this year (and note a LOT of places do Halloween the week before anyway). As noted on another thread, my game was overbooked with all 8 tickets gone weeks prior. Nobody showed. We got six players primarily from other attendees who found out their own games were canceled when the GM didn't show up. Bummer. Regards, Bill Gray ageofeagles.com |

I hope it was the weather and not the weekend or, more problematically, the economy. If it was the weather, let's just hope for better at Cold Wars (crosses fingers)! |
| Long Island Gamer | 04 Nov 2011 12:10 p.m. PST |
I really think it was a combination of both. I didn't want to be away that weekend (plus I was on call) and I can't see anyone wanting to drive in that weather. Move the convention away from Halloween weekend and I think you'll have a winner. |
