My question is who paints your figures? You paint them yourself You buy them painted You hire someone to paint them You wish you hired someone to paint them Priming them is enough You use them unpainted |

I paint them myself. I wouldn't have it any other way. |

Paint them myself. Otherwise, what is the point? |

Paint the vast majority myself, but have acquired some figures nicely painted by others. I haven't made use of a professional service however. |

I enjoy painting my own. But I also appreciate really nice painted figures if they were offered for sale and caught my fancy. |

Mostly paint them myself, have bought some painted figures, and have had some figure painted for me (mostly by friends or fellow TMPers) – out of all my figs, 95% are self-painted |

98% myself.

Paint myself. Sometimes I buy painted figures but generally they are simple block paint jobs I intend to enhance with better shading and base treatments. I do sometimes buy ready to play pre-paints, for RPGs mostly. |

Mostly paint myself. Some of the 1:144 tanks are pre-painted |

Painting is best left to others. I like to wargame. Rick |

I love painting, i find it relaxing and therapeutic, however I have lost count of all my doomed projects, countless hours spent of half finished armies that never make the table. So I have for a few years now gamed mostly in 54 mm skirmish bought from companies such as JJD and 18 mm bought of eBay. Although not as satisfying as doing it yourself, I do get to play more often and manage to keep the peace at home. I do envy those of you disciplined enough to see your projects through and with good painting skills. |

I never had a figure painted by anyone else. Seeing a lot of genuine gems posted on blogs and such on TMP or other like sites I would be proud to own a lot of them. But the one thing I say now or at least think is when someone at work or wherever says I have a lot of patents I always think if you painted 4000 odd 15mm figures, you too will have a get a of patients |

3 – I hire someone to paint them, mainly because I am rubbish and very slow at painting. In my defence, all figures that I supply to the painter have had all the flash and mold lines removed. This is the tedious part of the hobby for me. I work on the theory that I hire him to paint, not waste his time on preparation, besides I then have a feeling for the army as I have put in a considerable effort myself, and not just sent the bags of figures off as they arrived at mine. I am currently working on Essex Thematic Byzantines and they are taking about 10 mins each piece to prepare – very close to my boredom limit. Steve |

I'm more painter than gamer at the moment. And that's not saying much. |

Paint many myself but have sent some armies out to be painted. I am perhaps more attached to those I painted but they all fight the same. I note the AB figures run just like the Minifigs. |

3,5) I paint most of my 25mm because I'm not wealthy enough to have it pro painted. I'm a lousy painter and relent to be forced to grab my brushes, mostly because I can't reach what I esteem "average" quality. I'm being told continually that what I do is quite good, but for me it's crap. when I send minis to be painted, I carefully remove Lines and flash, as it is not always well done by the painter. |
HammerHead | 01 Nov 2011 11:24 p.m. PST |
now I find painting figures relaxing, to buy others work they would not seem `mine`. still aways to go on painting learning curve but I like what I paint |
Chris Rance | 02 Nov 2011 2:45 a.m. PST |
Just me. Not at all brilliant, not totally horrible, but it's good enough for me. But more importantly, painting time is relaxation time when I get to close the rest of the world out. Even if I wasn't concerned about anything else, I'd keep painting all my figures just for that. |
HammerHead | 02 Nov 2011 4:47 a.m. PST |
GOUNOUR what is it you don`t like about your painting? My problem was with flesh tones found secret all positive from then onwards. My other issue is with tidyness of finish thought problem through invested in wet pallette system for odd dabs of colour.regards H.Ps have a look at other peoples figures an` say mine are as good as that. |

I paint them myself. For me that's a very important part of the hobby. After a tough day there's nothing better than painting to relax. |
corporalpat | 02 Nov 2011 5:13 p.m. PST |
Paint them myself unless it's a Flea-market purchase. Even then they often get a touch-up at least, or sometimes a complete re-paint. |
