Is this the best scale to buy for cars and railway stuff for 15mm? I see a lot of US guys using HO but I have not seen any UK 15mm lovers with HO scale yet. Will British HO work with 15mm. I thought it was better for 20mm. Cheers Tony |

Dunno but I recently got some N gauge stuff which is about 1/148th and it works fine for my 6mm which is about 1/300th. Just goes to show eh.. Michael. |

HO is is the way I went for 15mm and it looks great. |

You'd be hard pressed to find much British H0 though as the modelling scale/gauge combo is 00 (1:76 on 16.5mm track rather than 1:87 on 16.5mm track) which is closer to 20mm. |

HO can work fine. Looks great with the manufacturers that tend to be more 18mm then 15mm. If you have a lot of older true 15mm figs then things look a bit small. One of the guys at the local game store wrote a rather extensive article on scales. link I refer to it a lot when deciding how far I can stretch terrain and vehicles for 15mm. |

I'm in the UK and I'm using HO scale stuff to do my 15mm post apocalyptic games. Its all HO scale Bachman Plasticville, which can be had for a reasonable price on ebay. I think it scales perfectly with 15mm figure(mostly from The Scene and Rebel). It also scales with the ruined WW2 building I was using as filler. link -Joe |

Figures on bases always look taller than they really are, and go better with slightly scaled up buildings. They won't bump their heads so much going through doorways. And metal figs are way heftier than any actual scale. |

Figures on bases always look taller than they really are Yup that is why I always base terrain, buildings and vehicles. |

I game with 1/87 vehicles and have the 15mm squads/fire teams on bases so they look right. 1/87 is hard to find in the UK, but you're a lot closer to the source of the 18.5mm stuff than we are in the States. Wyatt |

Ok, consider this, HO can vary a lot by manufacturer, so like so much in 15mm, it is all about what works visually. While I build to a 1/100th standard when I am building models, I also constantly refer to several figures along side to make sure the proportions look right in relation. Also considered are the needs of play, room to get figures on and around the piece. So the answer is "Does it look right to you?" |

I like it HO better than N visually it works for me even if it takes up a bigger footprint.

I have a selection of HO industrial and tenement buildings for my 15mm Sci Fi. Depending on manufacturer, some even work well with my 20mm Moderns – but I find it can be hit or miss. Cheers Mark |
