I mean in significant gaming terms, the radar of the E is better than the C, but aside from that I don't see much of a difference. |

RWR, and more fuel, otherwise similar. |

So no visible external differences at 1/300 scale, then? |

Yep – the IIIE is longer by about a foot – not obvious at a glance, but becomes apparent if you look for where the cockpit is relative to the air intakes. |

Can't recall 100%, but suspect the E variant is also referred to as the Mirage V, Barak, Dagger by the Argentines, etc. It has a more powerful engine, longer nose (as shown in the pic above), and no air-to-air radar. The radar in it is a small ground navigation model. |

Mako – no, the IIIE is very much a III, radar (indeed slightly better radar in most cases) and all – most had the Cyrano II radar instead of the IIIC's Cyrano I. The navigation radar (again usually fitted, but not always) was *as well* as the Cyrano, not instead of – it's in the little bulge underneath the cockpit, not in the nose cone. The IIIE was intended to be properly multi-role; primarily a strike aircraft but retaining the full fighter capability. The V is longer still, and was essentially a development of an Israeli request for IIIEs with the expensive and bulky avionics stripped out, cos Israel gets less crummy flying weather than France

Mirage V I have read the difference was the removal of the nose Radar, increased internal fuel capacity and the addition of two more weapons hard points. Robert |

Hrm
So really about as much visual difference as there is between an F16 and a Mitsubishi F2, then. |

Yep – different when you look for the differences, but at a glance, less so

Ah, I see. Always get those letter designations for the Mirage confused, especially with the multiple other names for them. Thanks for the clarification Dom. |
