The Hammer's Slammers the Crucible – Supplement 3 is about to be published in the Miniature Wargames special F&SF edition of their mag.

The supplement has a number of components including new optional rules like "Follow Me" – giving a commander the ability the lead their troops from the front and enable other units to follow their lead. There is also a painting guide to the Lightning Division by Kevin Dallimore.

The major part of the supplement is based around a scenario for a battle using the Lightning Division and the Eaglewing Squadron. This has a number of additional features like "stealth rules" and "Sniper Pods" giving, effectively, ‘fire and forget' capability to missiles.

Like the subtle paint job on the stealth 'Night Crow', but less aesthetically sold on the big-*** Gatling cannon hanging out the back-door (it also would probably bork the crafts stealth capabilities big time…)

I love the Night Crow. I see the gun as rolling into position when the door open. It reminds me of some of the stuff you see in "Ghost in The Shell" and "Appleseed" with their sniper helicoptors.

Who makes that "night crow" out of interest?

That would be the Sabre Heavy Tank from Old Crow: link

A very lovely model.

I meant the dropship/shuttle, not the tank sorry.

Looks like Old Crow's "Crow" Lander.

Thanks for the comments about the Night Crow paint job, guys. Big gun out of the rear: I was thinking Spectre Gun ship grin

Anyway, on that 'positive-response-to-the-paintjob' basis, here's some more shots:

It's made by Old Crow (in 15mm at least) and they now do the open back version of their Black Crow VTOL.

No, I know: it's not on his web site (yet)…

Email him and ask!

WOW !!! Very cool !! thumbs up So we'll be able to get this supplement from Mini Wargames Mag ? I see they now belong to Atlantic Publishers ?

L4 – it's a special F&SF title: just one issue (initially?) called (I think) Darker Horizons.

The Supplement 3 – probably the last (certainly for the time being) will be in the centre apges to aid pulling out and keeping, etc

I think it is the Old Crow lander link

Cool John !! I'll check it out !! Many Thanks !! thumbs up So how can I get a hold of this once its released ?

John Treadaway28 Oct 2011 2:55 a.m. PST

Micman

That is the lander, as you rightly spotted: the open backed version is a 'special' (and so is not on his web site) and will need an email to Old Crow to negotiate.

Both versions (the blue and gray one in one of the pictures I uploaded is the standard version on the web site) are splendid models.

As is the 28mm version:

I love the fact that he does them in different scales – I hope he brings out the 6mm versions at some point (and I know L4 will agree with me on this grin)

Mine just came through in the post: nice issue with a broad selection of useful stuff in it, I have to say.

Shame it isn't monthly/quarterly (hinty hint hint…)

Love that camouflage design; very inspiring.

Thankyou tuscaloosa

(assuming you mean the stealth craft) Dark grey airbrushed through scrim netting over a black base.

It's easier two handed (as in four hands – two people): one to strecth the net and hold it tight, one to weild the airbrush, but I have managed it (on larger models) with spray cans and pegs/bulldog clips/tape to keep the netting tight.
