Battle of Kasmir

With the Independents setup in a double line defense in the trenches the Alliance forces begin their advance moving through the trees on the Independents' right side of the battlefield. A heated fire fight breaks out with the Browncoats holding their own against several fire teams of Purplebellies and a few combat cars. One of the cars gets immobilized but still able to lay down fire in support of the advancing infantry.

The fire fight to the Independents' right flank becomes more heated as more Purplebelly infantry comes up through the woods. However the 2 combat cars get taken out by some well placed anti-tank fire. However the amount of firepower laid down by the Alliance is to much to bear by the single squad Browncoats in the trench, all of them (save one) taking a hit. While this exchange is going down, the Alliance heavy roller comes into the fight from the left and starts laying down fire into the center of the Independents' line with not much effect.

With the medic checks all around the Browncoats are down 2 team members while most of the Purplebellies get back up. The fire fight continues and begins to spread across the trench with the squad in the middle trench really beginning to take part in the fire fight while taking fire from a light tank and the heavy roller. They fair better than the right flank squad which has been cut down to the man this time. The squad in reserve jumps out of their fortified location making a dash for the front trench to assist in shoring up the defenses.

The Browncoat sniper teams and ATGM teams are working hard to keep the Alliance vehicles and special teams in check.

Mal gets the big AA gun in the rear working just in time for a flanking move from the rear by the Purplebellies. A new fire fight breaks out in the rear of the Independents' lines.

With all the Browncoats down in the right trench the Alliance make a push into the trench to claim a contested result at the least. The Independents' reserve squads find themselves in a hair predicament. The one that came forward are caught out in the open but escape any hits, while the reserve team still in the back trench are in a fight for their lives. The flanking Purplebellies have brought a flame thrower with them and use it to some effect.

The heavy rollers from both sides begin to engage each other slamming each other with shots but not doing much damage. A Browncoat sniper sees the TC of the Purplebellies heavy roller poke his head out and takes a shot knocking him back into his hole.

The Independents' heavy roller finally succumbs to the pounding it has been taking from the Alliance heavy roller and AT team And blows up.

The time has come for the all out push by the Alliance, catching the Browncoats in a classic pincher move. The Purplebellies further close their grip on the Independents, catching Mal in a conflagration from the flame thrower team and Zoe takes a debilitating hit and goes down. The trenches get overrun and all the Browncoats are either captured or slain where they stood.

All in all a great game.

Looks like a very faithful recreation of the opening scene of the first Firefly episode. Good stuff!

Wow, this is really cool! How long did the game last?

Thanks,

Very nice. What minis were you using for both forces?

Great AAR – good photos, too!

What minis were you using…

The two combat cars in the second and third photos look like "Rattler Gun Trucks" for Aberrant Games "Warlands" post-apocalypse game (think Mad Max). They are supposed to be 20mm.

The Browncoats are Pig Iron's 28mm Kolony Militia figures with a head swap of a WW2 American infantryman.

The Purplebellies are the original Starship Troopers minis from Mongoose, they're OOP. You can still find them on e-bay and the like though.

Yep, both of those are perfect. Cool game!

Hey, another Independence War gamer!

I use 15mm GZG OUDF for Purplebellies and RAFM Low Tech Infantry (with added long coats) for Browncoats….

Sure wish I had as many guys as you, though! All my fights are much smaller scale.

what episode were you watching? Nice use of figures and decent photos. Scenery for me was a mix of too old (the obvious WW2 stuff) and too bland/open – BUT, good pics and a great AAR. :-)
