Okay, folks… here's something fun to start the week. I just finished a few of The Scene's Desert Dwellings, and I'd like to try them out on the battlefield. So I set them out on my desert table, threw out a few hills, and one of my not-Stargates (upper right)just for fun:

I started looking at my 15mm forces, trying to decide what I wanted to do. Then inspiration hit me – why not get some scenario suggestions from TMP? :)

I'm hoping for a small skirmish, 5-15 minis per side. I have about twenty armies that could fit that category – pretty much any force you suggest, I can use. Light vehicles also aren't out of the question.

The layout places the "space gate" on a hilltop, overlooking a four-building settlement. There are a few bits of scatter terrain (GZG boxes and BWS Startown Slum bits) around the buildings, but this is pretty much the tabletop:

So, if you had this table in front of you… what would you play?

Thanks,
Chris

Escape From P49-325: Team has to move from lower-left corner to the Gate. Locals want to stop and capture them for weapons, intel and bargaining leverage.

Return to P49-325, part 1: Nighttime, possibly inclement weather. Sneaky insertion team goes through the gate, tasked with: 'nullifying' locals/rescuing Team Members from previous scenarios/grabbing village headman to exchange for said hostages. Locals know something is afoot, but will have trouble finding Sneaky Team.

Return to P49-325, part 2: Surprise (hopefully) gate assault. Gate Command doesn't want to just flatten the village, but it must be secured. Drones and human assault troops must hold the gate and take the village.

They Came From The Gate: "Oh, gods save us, the monsters just keep pouring out! They…the ate Isabella right in front of me, please, you have to stop them!" Villagers must rally against unending horde of Awful Things coming out of gate. Close the gate, or escape…

I suggest a small but well-equipped team of humans (a "Space Gate" team, if you would) against a team of aliens that wear masks reminiscent of Egyptian gods. These aliens will carry staff weapons that fire pulses of energy.

That's such a good idea, I bet you could base a movie and a clutch of TV shows on it!

Enter far corner from gate, fight your way through and dial out. Locals start in buildings with one or two guards at the gate.

Do you have any small hordes of figures aliens of militia?
If so
Get a squad of men for each player.

They are tasked with holding off an advancing horde of Aliens or natives.

out of the North East corner come the attackers run by a player or GM.

First wave of the attack is half the defending force.
The next wave of attackers is equal to the defenders.
THe next wave is one and a half the amount of surviving defenders.
The next wave is double, and so on and so on.

The winner is the squad that can hold out the longest or maybe if they have the most survivors after a wave of three times the attackers.
You can have ammo shortages, and even defend civilians lots of stuff you can do.

The bank heist scene from the movie HEAT. A weakly armed blocking force at the gate behind barricades and a better armed and trained group chasing the OPFOR across the map.

Repo Man – the local village headman has been running an illegal import-export operation using the spacegate. Unfortunately he has forgotten to pay his 'taxes' to the local syndicate, instead creaming off the extra money for himself. Now they want their money, or failing that the Gate itself, or perhaps both.

There could be multiple competing factions; the Repo Men, the Headman's associates, the local Law Enforcement Agency, the villagers, the Tax Office, the smugglers etc.

Kill or capture the head honcho, believed to be holed up in the large building, on the second floor.

Of course, if he's smart, he'll be as far away from there as possible.

Reports from the remote recon drone sent in advance are there is a small, but very noisy dog in the village, so you'll have to move very carefully at night, to try to avoid being detected.

Very nice, everyone! I think Etranger has my favorite so far, but I'm going to try several of these.

@Thornhammer – am I the only person on this planet who preferred the Ori storyline to the first eight seasons? :)

A Bongolesian TV crew is shooting on location at an arceological dig that has uncovered a mysterious ring in the Bongolesian desert, with appropriate "minders" and some foreign archeologists and technical crew, when a Reticulan scouting part arrives via scout saucer. The technical crew and turn out to be CIA/NSA/MiB agents and a 3 way battle breaks out as the confused Reticulans try and grab their lost artefact, the CIA/NSA/MiB's try to grab the Reticulans and the Bongolesians try and…. well, work out what's going on. The TV crew can be played as a 4th faction and gain victory points for "shooting" exciting and interesting events, with the other sides trying not to get exposed!

@Goober – I'm usually not a fan of the Bongolesian stuff, but that scenario definitely has potential…

-Oddzial Osmy TV crew filming Laserburn and GZG civilians as the local archaeologists
-Laserburn law enforcement providing local security
-Blue Moon Universalists or Rebel Scourge as the invaders
-Rebel Titan Marines or RAFM Bucketheads as the MiBs.

I have a GZG Hovertruck and a couple of Old Crow Geckos for the local vehicles… might even try using a spare Matchbox SWAT vehicle as the news truck. :)
