Well folks, my Tekhnolog ZOD 15mm pack arrived today – the one with the infantry, tanks, and mecha. I'll get some photos up shortly, but I want to get this out right away. For those of you who haven't ordered it yet, but want to use these items with 15mm? Don't. For those of you who ordered and it hasn't arrived yet? Well, you'll see what I mean very soon. The mecha have already been reviewed on JeffW75's blog, so I won't discuss those any further. link But my pack was actually missing half of the arms and backpacks needed to complete the mecha. The three plastic vehicles – pretty much the same story as the mecha. I'd say these are roughly 10mm/N-scale. The battle tanks could possibly be used as some kind of robotic drones in 15mm. The radar tank is utterly useless, other than using the radar bit for conversions. It clearly has a dual-seat cockpit. In 15mm terms, two Sons Of Thunder would have difficulty squeezing into it. And then there's the infantry. Mark Hannam commented in an earlier post that they look like recasts of the old GZG FSE troopers. Now that I have them in the flesh, I can confirm this is the case. The weapons and helmets were slightly modified before molding, but they are definitely GZG FSE. I'll post photos of the vehicles and infantry shortly.
So what happened? Well, first and foremost – these are toys, not wargame miniatures. Do you remember buying a bag of toy soldiers that came with a jeep or a tank, but the vehicles were completely out of scale with the infantry? This is pretty much the same case. I'm not going to accuse Tekhnolog or that Velard eBay seller of trying to cheat us – just trying to clarify that these are not useful for 1:100 gaming. On the other hand, if you're an N-scale/10mm sci-fi gamer: these might be a great deal for you. Six mecha and three tanks for $20 is probably better than you'll see from Heavy Gear or CAV. Chris K. |

As someone who uses N/10mm/1:144 scale rebased mechwarrior stuff, this sounds really appealing. Can't waint to see the pics! |

I'm surprised that all of the components for mine were present, let alone intact. Everything was a loose jumble inside a blue and white box inside a pretty shredded up mailer. |

@Ordinarybass – I'll probably make you a great deal on this stuff then. :) I might keep a couple mecha just for conversion bits, but I have no use for the vehicles. Hopefully we can get Velard (that eBay seller) to re-list those items at 1:144 and get them into the right hands. @Jeff – That's strange. My entire bundle was shrinkwrapped very securely and then placed in a padded mailer. I didn't realize anything was missing until I actually put everything together. Chris K. |

Chris, Is this the seller you mean? auction Here's another seller/manufacturer who can't seem to understand what 15mm is supposed to be: auction Great ruin sprues, but the brick size is certainly not for 15mm. Might work for 28mm. Thanks, Dan |

The vehicles do look a bit small. You could always say they only have a one, or two man crew, or that they are even robots without crews. |

@Dan – that first link is the seller in question. The Zod lots have been in a few threads in the last month. Your second link is actually someone reselling Proxie Models buildings – which are most certainly designed for 15mm. Here's one of the infantry minis:
I'll get a picture of the rest up next. If you want to see larger pictures of the vehicles, the originals are in my Picasa gallery: link Chris K. |

Strictly speaking there for some form of board game so scale was probably never foremost in the designers mind and I was certainly taking a punt when I ordered my mecha. Mine was a complete set, but the package clearly looked like it had been shipped in the company of loose export T-72 engines. Just for the record the UK Sabre is only 2.2m high and a T-72 2.23m in 1:100 2.2 cm and 2.23 cm and there a quite a few 15mm sci-fi miniatures out there knocking on 20mm
Shame that the infantry are clearly "plagiarized", but not entirely surprised. I keep thinking someone will 'recognise' the mecha

There are some details on the tanks that would prohibit you from using them as-is with 15mm, even as "small" tanks. It would take a bit of surgery to make them suitable. I think I'll just find a 1/144 gamer who wants them. Still interested, Ordinarybass? I keep thinking someone will 'recognise' the mecha
I'm thinking 50/50 on the mecha and aircraft. They could easily have been stolen from some obscure Japanese toy line – no surprise we haven't recognized them yet. On the other hand, they could be original 3D models that were CNC-milled into the molds. These are very interesting little toys. The detail is pretty soft, but I assume these were only toy-quality molds. It makes me wonder what a good plastic miniatures company like Renedra could do with 15mm infantry. Chris K. |

Hi! I am very same seller, again. To TC. If you missing some parts of lot, contact me on Ebay and i will send replacement. About lots – in each lot i put picture with actual models and ruller to anyone can see size of models. They advertised as 1/100 by seller, so i do the same. In any case you always can look for themselfs. |
clkeagle | 25 Oct 2011 11:39 a.m. PST |
Lord velard, With the exception of the infantry, the manufacturer is mistaken. I would suggest that you not advertise them as 1/100 – it will mislead buyers. You should change your listings to 1/144 or 10mm so you can sell to the right people, and not be blamed for a someone else's error. Chris K. |

Again, I ordered the tanks, saw what was said and will have to admit I am happy with MY purchase. They are not the HUGE tanks everyone else seems to want but the work well and make great support Vehicles and are fantastic for kit bashing. I am making a bunch of Turrets and defensive line emplacements with all the cool radar peices, missles etc. |
