Hello all,

Here is one of the new Airfix blokes, make up your own mind about them.

I see there is a PIAT on the front of the box. What other equipment comes in the box? Did they actually sculpt #2 men for heavy equipment or did they leave them out?

The figure looks pretty good really. Like you, I was pretty fond of the 8th Army and DAK sets.

He seems to be waving a Webley revolver. It's nice that you can tell.

Hmmmmn, interesting, better than the old old Airfix Brits but not up to Zvezda standards by any means. Still Airfix back in the game !!!

Very nice job!

Thoughts from in my brain-jelly:

Good to see they've rediscovered how to get a new set of figures made. So… would it be foolish to hope for more?

This set looks to be a pretty much perfect match for the recent Caesar WWII Brits.

Wonder why they didn't base the figures on their (excellent) 1/32 British infantry set?

Oooh… I have to say, the better the photos get, the less I'm impressed!

Actually a better match for the Atlantic Brits…

The box pic is interesting – I think the four riflemen featured on it are carrying two SMLEs, one Rifle No.4, and the P14!

Talk about covering your options!

The strangely-proportioned Brens remind me of the BMC 'D-Day' British.

And is that the early war gas-mask case on 3rd chap, middle row? Wasn't that long gone by the time the PIAT was issued?

They are ok. I wish the Piat operator had an assistant. I also wish they added a Vickers MG. But…oh well.Pretty good looking set. Probably useful for wargaers who game in 1/72.

Middle shot, third guy from the left has legs like a chicken

I've got legs just like his, maybe he's a model of my grandad.Legs run in our family!.

On the plus side, you can get a platoon out of them…you could scratchbuild the 2" mortar "slung".

However I'm a bit underwhelmed..the Esci figures I used in the 80's were better.
I can recall when plastic 20mm WW2 were always better than the metal alternatives-Figures Armour Artillery were the first to overtake them.Certainly that doesn't seem to be the case now.

Chicken legs, skinny enfields, short bayonets, and bloused pants that make it look like they are ready for the parade square
