For now, we will see if Mila can change my mind.

Cardinal Hawkwood07 Oct 2011 2:09 a.m. PST

I can say 25, 15, and while a bit lost by 18 the high camp Tim Curry's Cardinal was pretty funny..and from my childhood I have terribly fond recollections of

greatwhitezulu07 Oct 2011 2:27 a.m. PST

Can't stand them as a movie, book, game or in anyway, shape or form…

Fat Wally07 Oct 2011 2:33 a.m. PST

15 is a classic. I also enjoy 10 as I have a thing about June Allyson.

timurilank07 Oct 2011 2:40 a.m. PST

Oh my. You missed my favourite.

"La fille de d'Artagnan"

Cardinal Hawkwood07 Oct 2011 2:42 a.m. PST

hmm wikipedia missed it, fixed it..

Captain Swing07 Oct 2011 2:55 a.m. PST

Only films? Not television series with this one?
Missing out on classics such as D'Artagnan and the Three Muskerhounds…

Cardinal Hawkwood07 Oct 2011 3:09 a.m. PST

well Captain Swing..you could start your own poll..

fogsoldiers07 Oct 2011 3:53 a.m. PST

15!!!

By the way we have to paint our three musketeers and d' Artagnan, and obviously our Cardinal' s guards by Redoubt, and mademoiselles, if we don' t make a mistake…

Happy Wargaming to All.

15.The Three Musketeers (1973 film), and The Four Musketeers (film) (1974) a two-film adaptation starring Michael York, Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay, and Richard Chamberlain.

I've always enjoyed Oliver Reed's work as an actor, and he was kinda entertaining off the stage too.

Charlston Heston as Cardinal Richelieu was great.

This one below is one of the WORST movies I have ever seen. Right up (or down) there with "Cutthroath Island".

19.The Musketeer (2001), a very loose adaptation, in a style imitating Asian action movies

nsolomon9907 Oct 2011 4:45 a.m. PST

There was also The Man in the Iron Mask starring John Malkovich, Jeremy Irons, Gerard Depardieu and Gabriel Byrne as the now middle-aged Musketeers and Leonardo DiCaprio as both the King and his twin brother.

Lentulus07 Oct 2011 5:26 a.m. PST

15. Mostly for Heston's Richelieu.

Disco Joe07 Oct 2011 5:39 a.m. PST

Definitely 15 followed by 18.

15 and 18.

Lets not forget to mention that none other than Flashman creator George McDonald Fraiser wrote the screenplay for 15. (kind of makes up for Octopussy)

As for 18, Oliver Platt and Tim Curry made that movie.

Milla Jovovich in 3D!!! Be still my beating heart! :P

timurilank07 Oct 2011 6:22 a.m. PST

Thank you.
15 and 27!

Who asked this joker07 Oct 2011 7:12 a.m. PST

15 tried to follow the book closely and was quite good. 10 (w/ Gene Kelley) was my favorite. The fight in the cemetery is worth the price of admission.

jowady07 Oct 2011 7:25 a.m. PST

15 and 25, 15 is perhaps the most faithful version of the book, fun, exciting and well acted. The new one looks like its going to be crap (IMHO).

richarDISNEY07 Oct 2011 7:30 a.m. PST

My favorite one is not on the list…

1) Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers imdb.com/title/tt0371823
2) 19.The Musketeer (2001), a very loose adaptation, in a style imitating Asian action movies
3) 18.The Three Musketeers (1993 film), a Disney production starring Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O'Donnell, Oliver Platt, and Tim Curry
I have not seen any others.

TheWarStoreMan07 Oct 2011 7:39 a.m. PST

I remember seeing the 73 and 74 films in the theater, but it must have been during a revival in the 80's as I am sure my mom wouldn't have let me go see them at 10! I liked them, lots of swords and fun. Didn't like the 93 version as much.

hurrahbro07 Oct 2011 7:46 a.m. PST

being of a certain age, 15 for sure.

Though special mention for Dogtanian!

Willtij07 Oct 2011 8:04 a.m. PST

None of them have done the book justice, especially from the looks of the trailer, the new one which looks terrible.

leidang07 Oct 2011 8:05 a.m. PST

15.. all of the others I have seen are drek… although I haven't seen many of the older ones on the list.

15. Scripts by George MacDonald Fraser.

SBminisguy07 Oct 2011 8:56 a.m. PST

15. The Three Musketeers (1973 film), and The Four Musketeers (film) (1974) a two-film adaptation starring Michael York, Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay, and Richard Chamberlain

This is absolutely the best made 3 Musketeers movie series (if you count the third own, 20 years after basically). The acting is excellent, the costuming and setting fantastic, the thoroughness of following the book is great, and the action and fight scenes well done -- plus it's very humorous and tongue in cheek.

My Redoubt figures (all based on the 1973 movies) have seen a lot of use.

Having said that, I also liked "19.The Musketeer (2001), a very loose adaptation, in a style imitating Asian action movies" for its great over-the-top Hong Kong style fight stunts.

CeruLucifus07 Oct 2011 9:01 a.m. PST

15, the classic.

25, have read all the books twice.

Have seen some but not all of the others.

21, the upcoming 2011 film, just commenting: At my first glimpse of the preview I thought it looked really silly. Then after a couple more exposures I switched my thinking to silly but possibly fun. Now I realize we have Mila Jovovich and Orland Bloom as the villains (Milady and Buckingham respectively), and it's from the team that did the "Resident Evil" films. I'm kind of looking forward to it.

But it won't be a real version.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP07 Oct 2011 9:08 a.m. PST

15 is the Alpha and Omega. The only reason I ever think about 19 is the scene where the Grey Musketeers form as a cavalry unit. Then they charge a CASTLE! Arrrgh!

Mako1107 Oct 2011 9:50 a.m. PST

The Four Musketeers – the one with Raquel Welch in it.

skippy000107 Oct 2011 10:50 a.m. PST

15. for Hestons' Richelieu " By my order and for the good of the State, the bearer has done what the bearer has done".

I used that line at work when a supervisor wouldn't act on a problem-got away with it too.

Pijlie08 Oct 2011 2:23 a.m. PST

The two 70ies movies are unsurpassed so far.

Grand Duke Natokina08 Oct 2011 4:39 p.m. PST

And I liked the musketeer too

Tarty2Ts09 Oct 2011 9:54 p.m. PST
