Which current TMP members (Basic or Supporting) would you most like to see as a Guest of Honor at a future convention? And why?

Condottiere06 Oct 2011 4:03 p.m. PST

The OFM.

Chocolate Fezian06 Oct 2011 4:16 p.m. PST

Second The OFM and add aecurtis

Condottiere06 Oct 2011 4:29 p.m. PST

Yup Allen too.

Lou from BSM Supporting Member of TMP06 Oct 2011 4:37 p.m. PST

Dave Hollins…

(as I duck and cover)….

Timbo W06 Oct 2011 4:37 p.m. PST

Alexander Mikaberidze – maybe I'll learn how to spell him!

Dave Hollins & Kevin Kiley as a double act.

John the OFM and Bill, another double-act

Tango01 and Cacique Caribe out of curiosity!

Mikhail Lerementov06 Oct 2011 4:38 p.m. PST

Sorry, but neither OFM or Allen meet the criteria set forth by the editor.

Lou from BSM Supporting Member of TMP06 Oct 2011 4:38 p.m. PST

Sorry… you said current, and I think he has been banned for life…

Condottiere06 Oct 2011 4:42 p.m. PST

They can still post in hobby news, pm, and they can still read the TMP. They meet the criteria. Also, so long as they are listed as members, and their posts still can be seen on the boards, they are current.

Timbo W06 Oct 2011 4:53 p.m. PST

Oh, OK then

Rallynow and Bill

;-)

To clarify: a current, non-Locked TMP Basic or Supporting member

StarfuryXL506 Oct 2011 5:23 p.m. PST

John the OFM and Bill

Could be interesting, since they are never seen together. It would be like the restaurant scene in Mrs. Doubtfire.

Cosmic Reset06 Oct 2011 5:41 p.m. PST

Kyotebluer than blue

Cosmic Reset06 Oct 2011 5:42 p.m. PST

and about umpteen others

Mikhail Lerementov06 Oct 2011 6:11 p.m. PST

Murphy fer shure. I want to hear a few more work tales from the source.

Condottiere06 Oct 2011 6:26 p.m. PST

But don't they have to have accomplishments in the hobby?

CeruLucifus06 Oct 2011 6:46 p.m. PST

Tom Meier. Great sculptor, was present for a good chunk of evolution of the modern gaming world, good at using anatomy to explain why it makes no sense to measure to the eyes.

Jervis Johnson. His columns in White Dwarf are actually pretty good. Sure he works for Games Workshop, but if I owned so much of that company I would too. I only hope if I ever start a gaming company that it does half as well as GW.

Matakishi. Fabulous blog about gaming, painting, and scratch building. A role model we should all aspire to, all the more so because with just a little hard work, any of us could get there.

EDIT: I forgot the criteria -- Jervis is disqualified as he's not a TMP member. At least I don't think he is.

The G Dog Fezian06 Oct 2011 6:49 p.m. PST

Irishserb…cause he is an excellent sculptor and has done much to support the hobby both as a small business and as a gamer. An all around class act.

Old Contemptibles06 Oct 2011 9:21 p.m. PST

None

I am John the OFM, I am Spartacus!

Robert V06 Oct 2011 10:17 p.m. PST

Me. I assume as a Guest of Honour I'd get in for free, right?

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER06 Oct 2011 10:52 p.m. PST

I just had Mal as GOH, there is no topping that.

artaxerxes07 Oct 2011 2:38 a.m. PST

Regardless of the (exclusionary) criteria, John the OFM and aecurtis, with Connard Sage an equal close second.

shthar07 Oct 2011 2:53 a.m. PST

Modesty forbids.

Cardinal Hawkwood07 Oct 2011 2:56 a.m. PST

wot about Mal???

Condottiere07 Oct 2011 6:47 a.m. PST

I guess the OFM's account should be unlocked then.

Erasmus B Dragon07 Oct 2011 6:54 a.m. PST

Rallynow, since he is really the OFM in disguise.

richarDISNEY07 Oct 2011 7:41 a.m. PST

Cpt. Jake for his 'trailer trash' game.
CC for… well… any of his ideas for games!

I would love to see Headzombie run a Quar game.

But I would REALLY love to shake the hand of Werner Klocke (but I am not sure he is a TMP member…).

beer

Mikhail Lerementov07 Oct 2011 12:43 p.m. PST

It was pointed out to me on the other thread that Rallynow was just joking and isn't actually the OFM. My bad.

Rudysnelson08 Oct 2011 6:11 p.m. PST

Sponsored Guests need to bring something to the convention to support them being a special guest.

I am not sure why Allen Curtis does not meet the criteria but he is an accomplished reseracher and is a retired MI Colonel if I remember correctly. That would mean he could lecture on several areas.

thomalley08 Oct 2011 8:33 p.m. PST

Has any of these guest ever increased attendance or visibility of the organization? Otherwise, lower vendor cost or something useful.

Maybe I've just met too many special people that aren't worth talking to in person.

Mikhail Lerementov09 Oct 2011 11:49 a.m. PST

Rudy, I believe that Allen has been locked out of TMP so that is why he doesn't qualify as a TMP'er anymore. I miss him in spite of his tendency to snark on occasion. He was most helpful to me a couple of times.

No-one, it would spoil the mystery and intrigue.
