And I like it. I like it alot. I was in the same boat as a few of you here on TMP yesterday
"Why the need for this 'boobies' board." Just so some jokers can post pics of birds or make sophomoric jokes? I figured it out why this board is actually a good idea. While cruzing another site on my coffee break, there were some pics of some well painted minis. Along of which there was a really well painted nekkid elf maiden. And I thought "WHOA! I am at work here! And if someone happens to be walking by, I might get into trouble." Yes. That actually went through my head (I just attended some workplace PC classes). I got to thinking that there should be a warning (NSFW) on those types of posts just to give the lookers a heads up that there might be some 'naughty bits' showing. Now, I ain't no prude. Not by a very long shot. But
I do use a lot of my breaks and lunches taking a gander at TMP or C'Mon or WAMP, or
whatever, and there are a few folks here in the office who WOULD take offense to the pictures of nekkid figures. So I got to thinking about the point of this board. I also paint a few 'nekkid figs' for some of my games, but now here is a spot where painters can show off their nekkid figs, or give painting tips (stockings are a bane
), and already have a warning that basically states "maybe I should take a look at this board when I get home and not a work" kind of thing. Its just like the other "Gallery" boards, but this one is just for figs with the 'naughty bits' showing. But the NSFW warning is already stated. So, Bill, I like this board. Just my two pence

you're joking right? People could/are actually (be) offended by a 1 inch high model that may be naked or semi-naked? Says a lot about the state of the world when people can find that offensive. |

Actually, alien BLOODY HELL surfer, yes. One of my colleagues got into some hot water recently for something similar. I did not think is was any big deal, but someone complained to management.

yes, trust me some gamers are also offended at representations of genitalia (male or otherwise) I have a few hairy barbarians in an army that recieved complaints in a demonstration game, and had to pull a gladiatrix figure because her breasts were visible! Of course the teens that were playing the game thought nothing wrong, but the parents
I had to take one of the parents aside after one game and tell him that his 15 year old son had "graphic pornography" on his phone, and he should be more concerned that he had access to that rather than seeing a one inch model
I will not tell you what the parent said but the nature of double standards comes to mind

Some people just don't see the difference between artistic nudity and pornography. My condolences to them. I hope they seek help. Dan |

Blimey Rich, I thought our place could be overly PC! I feel for you :-( As Dan said – what's wrong with naughty bits – everyone has them, and believe it or not, we still need at least some of them for the species to continue
. ;-p |

When your employer's company policy says "no viewing of porn", any image of full or semi nudity could be considered an infringement of that policy. It's just not worth the risk in the work place. |

I thought the difference between art and pornography was that with art there's vaseline on the camera lense. |

Ok, I'll bite. The Merriam-Webster on-line dictionary defines pornography as: 1: the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement 2: material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement 3: the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction <the pornography of violence> While these little fellows are not necessarily made with the express purpose of causing sexual excitment or reaction, I do think they go beyond the boundaries of propriety. It appears to me that the figures often represent what some men see as the ideal or fantasied desires they have in/for women. Add this to the lack of clothing and, in some cases, an aspect or suggestion of bondage and I think these do represent to some degree a level of pronography. More than likely my thoughts will be in the minority, but that's OK. For me, my figures don't have to be prudish, but they don't have to look like they were inspired by the back pages of Mr. Flint's publications. So, that said, a discussion board about "Needs More Boobies" – No thank you. Respectfully. |

you're joking right? People could/are actually (be) offended by a 1 inch high model that may be naked or semi-naked? I got reprimanded at work for creating nose art for a "Crimson Skies" airplane. I was editing a cartoon devil girl (admittedly in tight clothing) such that she was holding a .50 caliber MG rather than a pitchfork. I was then lectured that I needed to be "more tolerant" of people that had different values than YT. Since I was headed out of the job anyway I refrained from remarking that perhaps they should be more tolerant of my *Fully Clothed Cartoon Devil Girl*! |

Mr. Wheaton – I agree with your sentiment (more boobies board = prurient nonsense unfit for gentlemen), but not your conclusion. I for one support a 24-hour hentai viewing room at any and all geek venues. It keeps the creepier weirdos away from the rest of us. |

Some people just don't see the difference between artistic nudity and pornography. My condolences to them. I hope they seek help. Dan I own Playgirl and muscleman books, which of course have great pictures of good looking men. WHY? Simple
I want the majority of my human hero sculptures to be handsome and athletic. It has nothing to do with me liking pictures of men, but nether am I offended by male nudity
at all. Of course when I use myself as reference for male anatomy you get something like this
lol. link Not every leader and hero among men has to look like Brad Pitt.

"you're joking right? People could/are actually (be) offended by a 1 inch high model that may be naked or semi-naked? Says a lot about the state of the world when people can find that offensive." Obviously people can be mortally offended by a board title with the word "boobies" in it so anything is possible. |
