Has anyone played 1889 era game with a not-Mongo type planet on the opposite side of the sun to the Earths orbit?
(were there reasons why this wasn't in any 1889 stuff? Copyrights?)
If so how did it go? Any problems? What figures used?

I had some Castle Falkenstein figures I used atleast I think they were.

Most 'raygun' / *Not Flash Gordon* minis are of 40mm size; besides, being suitable for 'our Interwars, they would be too 'modern' to fit with 'our' Victorian times.

The Bronze Age *NOT Barsoomian* minis look good, but wear too few clothes for most climates of Mingo, I'm afraid?

but offer too few choices.
Now, this excellent conversion:

from link is inspirational: take a mini with a vaguely 19th C. look and convert it, specially at head level, to get a 'retro SF' look.
A possible starting point could be P.Press Warmachine Cygnar

some look almost 18th C.; then to convert some heads -Napoleonic cuirassier, Greek hoplite, French zouave, WWII German officer in cap, whatever.. to 'retro SF' (googles?), make silicon molds and start a mass-production of resin heads for headswapping…
This could be done in any scale of minis (just noticed you posted to the 15mm board).

Firstly thank you for the link and the comments.

I work in 40mm and therefore have had to search out suitable Ming/Mongo/Flash figures. I am sure that there are enough miniatures out there to do the same in 28mm (even 15mm/18mm).

For ideas and inspiration please check out my Blog (Flash Gordon Labels).

You could also search out Space 1889/Aeronef Labels on the same Blog.

I hope this helps.
