My old West miniatures are one of the smaller parts of my miniature collection. I do however own models from 4 sources that can provice miniatures for old West gaming. Black Scorpion Miniatures, Reaper, West Wind and Artizan Design. I wrote a small summary of my thoughts on each range and compiled a couple of pictures where you can compare the size and style of the miniatures from all the range to see which could be used with each other. link

Nice little guide, thanks for posting this. I've a few Artizan ones, and had been considering Black Scorpion, but the difference is quite noticeable in the comparison pics. I wonder how the Foundry stuff compares, if anyone else can speak of those? |

Nice guide, thanks. Very good paint jobs, too. |

The miniatures pretty much look the same on the table, of course depends on the light in the gaming area. But under "normal" circumstances they look as in my showcase pictures. I'm about to make a new "darker" game table so we will see how that will affect the look of my models. I tend to favor kind of a "dark" look even when models are painted with bright colors. From what I've seen myself Foundry works well with Artizan stuff. And having compared West Wind with Artizan I think all 3 ranges are somewhat compatible. I do prefer the "smaller sized" ranges myself :-) It's a shame Black Scorpion are huge in comparison as some of their civilians in particular are fantastic sculpts. |

I've been wondering how the Monday Kight stuff stacks up as well. Anybody have a comparison sht of their stuff with another common line? |

i own all foundry and Artizan. The newer foundry models match up just fine. The older ones (which are most of them)are a little small. I based the larger model on washers and the smaller ones on GW bases, which are a little taller. they look good to me, and no one has complained yet. |

I own Monday Knight. They are very small. Even smaller than Dixon. Their heft is also much slimmer. I'll use a few here and there. But overall they are too small. Thanks, John |

So MK minis are truly 25mm then? Hurrumpf. That's really unfortunate for my puropses. Thanks for the warning John. It's much appreciated and will save me much frsutration, time and some money. |

Yes, plus they are a VERY slim heft. That's the killer IMO. Thanks, John |

We often have this discussion about OW (and others) figs. But remember under gaming conditions you are not taking a static view (picture)looking sideways at a figure up against a scale, immeditely next to another figure specifically selected for its differences. We are looking from above at moving figures which are in and around buildings that are taller than all of them. So I do not have much of a problem with the differences. sky |
