So, I have been incommunicado for a while now because my lack of impulse control means SEE MINI = BUY MINI, and the mountain of lead/pewter is ever growing.

However, not *all* my time has been wasted, I've finally got something new to show off, and if anyone remembers me wandering off muttering about a "new battlesuit", I have finally completed it.

Here's the original concept:

Here's the finished master:

Please note that (as usual), it's missing one calf, one foot and one entire arm. Also, the hands are not attached. The patented EraserLeg will not be included with the final miniature.

Following some feedback I received from my previous battlesuit, I am planning for this new one to come in far, far fewer pieces. The old-Bouncer came in 11 parts (Head, Arms, Hands, Torso, Legs, Feet + weapons), but I plan for this new guy to be shipped in just 7 parts (Torso, Arms, Lower Body + Legs, Shoulderpads and Weapons). I'll be fusing the legs, feet and pelvis together into a solid block, and I'll probably fuse the hands to the arms.

With regards to that, I have a question for the TMP-hivemind, what would you like to see with regards to weapons + hands?

I have 3 potential options:

1. Fuse hands to arms, supply weapons with molded handles, you snip off the handles and pin the weapon to the hand during assembly.
2. Fuse hand to weapon.
3. Fuse hand to arm AND fuse hand to weapon. You chop the empty hand off and glue the hand+weapon combo on.

Option 1 provides the most flexibility, but I can see how it could potentially be fiddly (something I am dearly trying to avoid). Option 2 and 3 are pretty similar, and suffer from the problem of your weapon only being wield-able in whatever hand I fuse it to (though you could chop and pin if needed).

Comments, criticisms?

That is pretty spiffy!

I have a paint scheme in mind already .

The patented EraserLeg will not be included with the final miniature.

Too bad about that; the CREAM of German engineering! ;->=

Oh, a different kind of comment…

Thing of beauty! But as for conversion options, I'm all thumbs. Someone else who actually makes things work will have to advise.

"SEE MINI = BUY MINI, and the mountain of lead/pewter is ever growing."

I too lack impulse control.

That said, hurry and finish this beauty. I want 20 of 'em. Erm. Wait, I need to be responsible. 10 of them!

BRUTALPAUL15 Sep 2011 11:24 a.m. PST

It looks great!
I would prefer less parts. Modders will still be able to cut it as they need I bet.
I vote for option 3.

ZandrisIV15 Sep 2011 12:18 p.m. PST

I did actually have a brain fart and didn't consider the following.

Option 4
Fuse weapon to hand to arm. This is is similar to how Infinity does it. It does mean dramatically less bookkeeping for me, though there is the issue that it will become far more difficult to chop off and mod (as the forearm will likely be hidden by the weapon). Limited poses will probably not be a huge issue as the shoulder is a ball joint and you can rotate the arm everywhere.

Hi ZandrisIV

I think 3 is the best option and from the looks of it it would be easy enough to convert:)

What is the rough height of the Battlesuit as I really like the look of this one?

Cheers Matt

ZandrisIV15 Sep 2011 2:54 p.m. PST

@comstarhpg

Approx 5.1cm high standing at attention. I will be releasing this with some shoulder weapons, so you could probably add another 1cm to that height and make it a (rough) round 6cm.

comstarhpg15 Sep 2011 3:35 p.m. PST

Thanks for the reply ZandrisIV :)

I was hoping to use it for both 28mm and 15mm gaming and at 5.1cm and extra height from shoulder weapons that would be perfect :)

Looking forward to the release and that reminds me to finish some of your space ships off :)

Cheers Matt

And I just found my Rough-Necks! :)
I'll take 10!

Splod8915 Sep 2011 4:18 p.m. PST

How will it compare size-wise to the older battlesuit? If bigger than the originals I may just have to use both designs, recce suits and battle suits :)

ZandrisIV15 Sep 2011 5:25 p.m. PST

@Splot89

It's shorter than the older one by a couple of mm (2-3) and a lot less bulky, which was kinda the point of it all. The old one was literally burning a hole in my pocket every time I shipped them out due to Royal Mail's frankly ghastly pricing rituals.

Of course, with shoulder weapons it will be slightly taller than the older one. The weapons *should* be cross compatible with a little work, so the older ones will be getting a new lease of life.

Splod8915 Sep 2011 7:09 p.m. PST

Damn it… Umm, opposing forces maybe? Are the old ones still available?

15mm and 28mm Fanatik15 Sep 2011 7:11 p.m. PST

How big is this compared to a space marine? Is it going to be oversized like the one in Sucker Punch for a pilot to sit in?

Stealth100016 Sep 2011 1:22 a.m. PST

Thats better with less fat. Nice.

ZandrisIV16 Sep 2011 3:40 a.m. PST

@Splod89

The old ones should remain available, but I will probably have to do a "price adjustment" on them soon. As it stands it's not really worth it for me to sell them at the current price point.

@WW2Fanatic

Average space marine is about 3cm high. In theory a guy could fit in there (feet in the thighs, arms curled into the chest). It's not quite as big as the Sucker Punch one, which IIRC has enough capacity for 4 people to climb on top of…

Splod8916 Sep 2011 5:05 a.m. PST

I better get an order in soon then :P

Goober16 Sep 2011 5:33 a.m. PST

I'd suggest option 2, with a couple of empty hands.

Goose66619 Sep 2011 1:49 a.m. PST

Are there photos of the older one for those of us who have not seen it? And where can it be ordered from?

Looks interesting. Only comment is, the right hand foot, seems to have a bend it, or is it me? Ie the green stuff, appears slightly angled compared with the rest of the foot.

ZandrisIV19 Sep 2011 5:46 p.m. PST

@Goose666

The foot is straight, far as I can make it. The mishmash of sanded primer and multi-colour putties are making things look a little strange I grant.

It will be available from my online store at z4miniatures.blogspot.com when it's ready, and as for the old one, here you go:

And a size comparison (this is an even older version, before I added the chestplate)

Well, damn! I guess I should wait until the price increase before I purchase a couple bouncers from you, don't want you to go bankrupt. Especially with shipping to Japan…

I'd go for option 3 on the new suit, personally.
