A five book series about the newbie cleric Cadderly and his friends who are pitted against undead, vampires, a dragon and all kinds of crazy stuff as they try to stop the corruptive powers of the "chaos curse" unleashed by Cadderly's evil wizard father.

A change of pace from the Icewind Dale characters and story Salvatore provided in his other books. This band of characters start out as something you would call "level 1" and as the series goes on they get more adept at fighting and casting spells. It does also provide a couple of new combat styles, with Cadderly casting spells and using various items and his friend the monk Danica beating things up with her hands – which in the end makes for a different experience compared to the action in the books revolving around Drizzt.

I remember this series, I think I still have it boxed away. I thought it was a better done series than the original Drizzt books. I may have to dig it out and give it a re-read.

Nice review!

Read them several times my copies are well thumbed. Excellent series a great read. Cadderly having psionics rather than clerical powers is a nice change and Danica rocks far better than the female character from the Drizzt books (whose name I can't remember).
