Pegasus Hobbies will release next month a huge kit, a 15-inch tall tripod based on Steven Spielberg's 2005 version of WOTW: link |

Looks wonderful, but it's huge for 15mm, mayhap it's useful for 28mm! |

The tripod's from Pendraken look cheap and cheerful

Anyone got pics for the Pendraken ones? I find the tripod's design from the 2005 WOTW fantastic, they look terrifying. That movie could've been a lot better, the first 40 minutes were suberb, after that the narrative lost it way. |

I made my own, based on the French edition. The body is cast resin and the legs are brass rod and styrene tubing. Still need to paint it.

Thanks for the list of tripods. I'll have to bookmark this thread. Frontier models look great but they are pricey, too much so for a historical gamer considering a walk on the HG Wells side. |

I think these may be the best, aesthetically and money-wise, for 20th century based games (non-Victorian/Edwardian). |

Thanks all – those pictured above are the Parroom Station ones link (Parroom has an extensive Martian, Critters/beasts, VSF, Historical range) |

Hail BrigadeGames, can you tell me how tall are those tripods? Thanks in advance! |
TheBeast | 13 Sep 2011 7:21 a.m. PST |
Has anyone tried using large spider kits or toys? With a bit of care, I'd imagine you could drop five legs and doll one up as a proper walker. I've a preference to taking the BK WWW Tarantula and running it with just four legs. Doug |

about 3.5" by my memory. Not at the office at the moment but I can check when I get home tonight. |

For comparison, the big martian walker from Rebel Minis is ~10cm tall and the small one, ~6.3 cm |

There's pic of our Large Tripod on the Forum here: link, which is around 80mm high. (Scroll down for other angles

I have three of the Riviresco ones (tin soldier, first post), and I think they look great with 28mm figures. |

Andrew Preziosi, 13 Sep 2011 9:38 a.m. PST: < "Who makes Martian Tripods?" I THINK the Martians do
.> Nah, they outsourced them to the Selenites, who built them in a non-union shop for substandard wages. |

Great thread! Thanks for the one based on the 2005 movie. I have almost all of these except the one carried by Eureka and the homemade ones. The one that littleleadmenofvalor did is available from Eureka. |
