This general look here, with that armor, those helmets (horns not needed), and those weapons:

Source: link Preferably figures that look a bit on the tall side. They are, after all, supposed to be "Vikings", right? Thanks, Dan PS. By the way, what do you call that style of illustration (done by Melvyn Grant, in 1977)? Looks pulp-ish, but not quite. |

Dan, I should take a bigger pic for you
Kremlin's Cyberians look like DEAD ringers for that first bit of artwork. The only thing missing are the horns, and I know you have the sculpting chops to add those.

RAFM has some similar in style to the first ones, but the helmets are a bit more like standard space helmets, in their 15mm SciFi line. |

Have you read the latest in the series by John F Carr. I liked it and it looks like it is the first in a series. |

That second piece of artwork reminds of the cover from the Starship Troopers game from Avalon Hill.

I'd call Melvyn Grant's approach SF baroque myself; Prefer Darrel Sweet's take on the Space Vikings – more realistic without being so literal. Can't find an online shot sorry. |

The second piece of art looks to me like GZG UNSC Hardsuit Marines. |

I'm with Eli & artbraune Darkest Star Games have the perfect representations of the Star Vikings in the form of there Star Marauders which i seem to remember reading somewhere were based off of the cover art of the book.I am also pleased that BlackWidowPilot has shown us a version of the artwork of his copy of Space Vikings as it shows a dropship they use which just so happens to look like a Union class dropship in Battletech and Iron Wind Miniatures produce a resin mapscale model that could easily and convincingly be used

daddyslittlemen Those are more like Space nazis than Space vikings :> Ive never read the book but there is something in first cover Cacique Caribe posted that makes me looking at it for a long time. I want to play this ! |

AVAMANGO, actually, that is THE Ship from the story, the *Nemesis*Herself! IIRC my H. Beam Piper lore, ships in the story were quite large and spherical in configuration. The smaller craft depicted are some of the assorted shuttles, etc. that carried the ground troops, artillery, what have you down to the planet. Funny thing that ship, as I'm getting set to build a half dozen sherical starships on the cheap, and redicovering that old cover has given me just the inspiration I needed

I'd use figures from Blue Moon, they are an excellent fit for these types of figs. Here: link I would recommend these lines, they are excellent sculpts, cheap, highdetailed and clean. Most of all they fit in with all your other 15mm troops perfectly!

AWuuu: "Ive never read the book but there is something in first cover Cacique Caribe posted that makes me looking at it for a long time. I want to play this!" Glad to see I'm not the only one! :) I say you should combine that concept with this one: "Raiding vessels sweep across the star systems to loot glittering worlds. In system after system, dark cruisers materialize from hyperspace, launching a cloud of fighters to vaporize the local in-system patrol boats -- then comes the savage plunder of whole planets by powersuited raiding parties and grav-armor detachments. Scattered thinly across the Outrim sector, the frigates of the Federate squadron desperately deploy, attempting to weld the undermanned planetary defenses and low-tech local militias into a cohesive force capable of resisting the star-born horror from beyond the rim -- the coming of the STAR VIKINGS."

Reminds me of a very very old turn based PC game called 'Stars' i used to play via email. basically you had to choose a pre determined race and tech level then you were given a random sector of deep space with a selection of planets with different types and amounts of minerals and ore then you had to explore, map, colonize, inhabit, mine, defend and trade against all others usually 4-6 players who could form alliances
