pphalen03 Sep 2011 4:03 p.m. PST

CHAMPION!

Did you perfectly crack a hatched walnut, or did you glue tow halves together?

Jana Wang03 Sep 2011 4:19 p.m. PST

Love it. What a creative idea.

Cheers for comments. Mouth still needs to be painted yet but it's mostly there. The model is a surprise encounter for a Pulp game.

pphalen: Had to buy a bag of 30 or so of the things and carefully eased one apart with a knife after scoring the edges. Just need my wife to make a date and walnut cake and everything will be fine :)

Muerto04 Sep 2011 2:10 a.m. PST

Indeed, fantastic.

How did you do the leaves? Are they off of a plastic plant or scratch built?

pphalen04 Sep 2011 3:04 a.m. PST

Sounds about right, I proposed to my wife with her ring in a fortune cookie. It took a week of eating hinese food to perfectly pry open a fortune cookie!

Muerto: The Leaves …

Made from paper and very thin craft wire. Fold the paper and cut half of the leaf shape out so that when you fold the paper out you get a full leaf shape with a fold running exactly in the middle.

Cut the wire to a working length, 3cm or so, put a dot of superglue on the leaf, and lay the waire on top of it. The super glue should flow along the fold line and glue the full section of the wire on the leaf.

When dry bend the leaf along the wire gently to give it some shape.

For colours, I used a basecoat Vallejo Medium Olive followed by GW Camo Green in thin lines and finally GW Rotting flesh mixed with a Vallejo Deep Yellow.

Hope that helps?
