Just a random question Arodrig6
Have you ever thought of producing the battleship HMS Vanguard in 1/6000? Nobody seems to have done it yet! (and most of it's service was post WWII!) Unfortunately, I live in New Zealand, so logistically it may be difficult / expensive to get it shipped here

Just released: CVA-58, the USS United States, was planned to be the lead ship of a new class of supercarriers. The main role of CVA-58 was to be long range nuclear strikes and it carried a group of 12-18 AJ Savage nuclear-capable bombers and a wing of 54 fighters for escort duty. At the time, nuclear weapons were extremely heavy and required large aircraft (like the Savage) to carry them. Advances in weapon design soon changed this. Approved in July 1948, the keel was laid down on April 18, 1949. However, resistance from the Air Force and Army and questions about its role caused its cancellation only 5 days later. Five ships were planned for the class. 1:2400 shpws.me/3pd0 1:3000 shpws.me/3pd1 1:4800 shpws.me/3pd2 (1 ship) 1:4800 shpws.me/3pd3 (2 ships) 1:6000 shpws.me/3pd4 (2 ships) 1:6000 shpws.me/3pd5 (4 ships) |

Fluoro Phil, I haven't tried the Vanguard, but, as always, I'm willing to give it a try if you can point me towards plans. :-) Sorry to hear that you were hit by the Shapeways shipping hike. I know of at least one other New Zealander who has also would like to buy from Shapeways but has been deterred by the shipping cost. If you want, he has been posting to the 1_6000_Scale_Naval_Wargaming Yahoo list ( link ). You (or anyone else from NZ) might consider getting together to share an order and amortize the costs. |

I've hoped to see the US released for a long time. One of my favorite CV models was Navwars' Sovietsky Soyuz. This was a decent mini of what became the Tiblisi/Ad.Kuznetzov.Wish I had bought a few more as I preferred them over the actual model when it was released. |

Thanks Arun! I was not aware of the 1/6000 scale Yahoo group! Outstanding! In what scale do you want your plans? I don't have a scanner, but The Blueprints website might be of service..Will get back to you

KNOSSOS | 24 Oct 2011 1:51 p.m. PST |
Denian Models does excellent 1/3000 minis of the Anzacs'near sisters of the Hydra,Da Gama and Yavuz classes but no Anzac!Navwar does a decent model though, but not as nice as Denians'. |

Just Posted: The Pohang class corvette is a class of general purpose vessels operated by the Republic of Korea Navy. 24 were built, of which 21 are still active with the ROK Navy (1 lost, 1 retired, 1 to be transferred to Columbia). The basic hull can be customized for antiship, antisubmarine, or antiaircraft roles. On March 26th, 2010 the ROKS Cheonan was sunk by a torpedo launched by a North Korean Yeono sub, though the North Korean Regime denies any involvement. 1:2400 shpws.me/3poq 1:3000 shpws.me/3por 1:4800 shpws.me/3pou 1:6000 shpws.me/3pos |

Phil, any size plans work, though the larger and clearer the better. |

Arun, I will get back to you soon – I will consult my references – is 1/350 big enough? ;-) I will try to contact you through the 1/6000 Yahoo group. Thanks for your help! |

I actually had minis of the Spica in 3 scales. My first order for metal minis was to Alnavco about '81.A small range of 1/2400(Panzerwerke?)offered a decent Spica, although Navwar/Skytrex 1/3000 were better. While looking for a proxie for a modern Swedish cruiser(for 1/3000),I bought 2 1/1200s from Clydeside(?),trimmed the 3 ends of the guns and made a perfect single armed SAM launcher.Wished I'd never got rid of 'em! Been a nice mixed selection since the Oquendo was released. Concerning a Siamese/Thai cruiser, there was 2 being built in Italy that eventually became The RM's Etna AA cruisers.Neither entered service. |

Just posted: The Commandant Rivière class of frigates was built for the French Navy in the early 1960s. Four similar ships (the João Belo class) were constructed for Portugal. Originally equipped with three 100 mm guns, one gun was later replaced by 4 MM38 Exocet Missiles. Nine Commandants were built, with three eventually transferred to Uruguay, where they remained in commission until the early 90s. Two versions of the model are available. The "A" version has the three 100mm guns, the "B" version has Missile tubes. There may also be a variant without missile tubes and with the lower rear gun removed, but either the "A" or "B" version can be easily converted to this with a nail clipper and file. :-) 1:2400 A shpws.me/3qW4 1:2400 B shpws.me/3qW3 1:3000 A shpws.me/3qW5 1:3000 B shpws.me/3qW7 1:4800 A shpws.me/3qW9 1:4800 B shpws.me/3qWc 1:6000 A shpws.me/3qWa 1:6000 B shpws.me/3qWf |

Just released: The Lupo class is a class of multipurpose frigates built for the Italian Navy. Constructed during the 1970s Italian Navlal build up, they were to complement the Anti-submarine focused Maestrale class by focusing on surface warfare. 18 were built, and served with the Italian, Peruvian, and Venezuelan navies. Four were ordered by Iraq in 1980 (the Soldati class), but were never delivered and were incorporated into the Italian Navy. 1:2400 shpws.me/3rMQ 1:3000 shpws.me/3rN7 1:4800 shpws.me/3rNb 1:6000 shpws.me/3rNc The Peter De Cristofaro Class corvettes were built for the Italian Navy in the 1960s.
