T-34/85 are still in use in some 3rd world countries. I know that some of the jeeps, trucks, and other vehicles surplused after WWII are still in use in Africa (2-ton trucks etc.) The British Staghound AC is or was still in use in Angola in the 1990's (probably with new engines and extensive modifications). |

Every city with a river has a few DUKWs floating around. |

Approx. 10 years ago, while on a tour in South America, we had the opportunity to work with the Chilean army. Their 6th Division had an assortment of M3 Stuarts and M4 Shermans, as well as several wheeled Recon and Halftracks. |

The Serbs have a number of Shermans, M36s and M10s, some of the M10s I believe were remounted with T-55 turrets (I could be wrong.) |

The Mexican Army still uses the M-31 and M-32 Armored Recovery Vehicles. These were based on the Sherman and were used during WWII. |

Is the 2 1/2 ton truck still around? It was back in the 80s, been out for a while. |
| AndrewGPaul | 18 Aug 2011 2:56 a.m. PST |
Still plenty of DC-3s in the air. |

The 2 1/2 ton truck has mostly been replaced by the LMTV and the MTV, but there are still a few out there in national guard units. V/R Billy Yank |

Surplus T-34/85s? I think China is still making them. I swear I just read something where that was mentioned. |

Is the 2 1/2 ton truck still around? It was back in the 80s, been out for a while. Which 2-1/2 ton truck? The GMC CCKWs, Studebaker US6s, and IH M-5-6s of the World War II era had been replaced in US service relatively quickly in the post-war era by a standardized design based in part on the CCKW, the GMC M135 series. By the 1960s, these had been replaced by the REO M44 series. All of these were 2-1/2 ton trucks. The 2 1/2 ton truck has mostly been replaced by the LMTV and the MTV, but there are still a few out there in national guard units. Not to nitpick this too much further, but the LMTV series are 2-1/2 ton trucks. |

I know the Mexacans still have Greyhounds as do one or two other South American countries. I know the North Koreans have a couple of regiemtns worth of T-34's in active service. Felt that these would actually make for interesting scenrios when pitted against a USMC Scout force with LAV-25's. Cherers, Burkhard |

In the Orinoco river delta about ten years ago, I saw a number of surplus landing craft that were being used by cattle farmers. They'd drive their herd in, take them to another island to graze, when that island was grazed out, pull up the LCU, drop the doors, load the cattle, then sail to another island. Nothing looked stranger than an LCU full of cattle, sailing along. Saw some Amtracs in use in Iceland for glacier travel, too. |

They use an old DUKW in Baltimore for harbor tours! |
| retzlaffmd | 19 Aug 2011 9:47 a.m. PST |
Some companies still use LCU's to move stuff for movie shoots and such in difficult to get to places
This thread gives me hope for my "African merc's" in 15mm to have actual armor! |

I think the Royal Marines still run a couple of DUKWs too. Uruguay has some updated Chaffees Is it Honduras or Nicarague that still have Staghounds? The Comet is still on strength in Burma. Oh and apparently there are all sorts of peculiar logging vehicles etc based on Sherman chassis that are still going strong. |
