Hi all I am interested on building some DBA Early Samurai Armies in 15mm. Any suggestions for figures. With Respect Konstantinos Travlos |

For a Monk army you can use Old Glory 15mm. They has numerous poses. For other armies certain Samurai bags like ashigaru with pike and musket would not work. other such as archers would. from Old Glory. Feudal Samurai from QRF are very good. Essex also has some good ones. If you can find 2 Dragon, the may be the best. |

Along with Essex, Eureka has a nice range of specifically early figures Another is Minifig-I think their horse archers and some of the foot are early |

"Feudal Samurai from QRF are very good." I think they only do 16th century and there is no cavalry which I can see. "Essex also has some good ones. If you can find 2 Dragon, the may be the best."
2 Dragons are also for much later. I think rvandusen is right about suitable ranges link Essex link Eureka link Minifgs – these may be okay but they don't seem to have retainers with armour but no helmet as seen on the scrolls of the period. |

As stated, Essex & Eureka are my top choices, though you cant mix the two in the same units. Two Dragon are Sengoku (1500-1600) Samurai. |

As well as the suitable ranges already mentioned (Essex, Eureka and some Minifigs), Naismith Design of Navwar do some nice early foot retainers. Minifigs still do the best horse archers IMHO. One of their foot retainers with bow has a stiffened eboshi cap which adds some variety for the early period. And still no-one makes an O-mikoshi portable shrine in 15mm! |

Naismith seems to be the best choice for the early period. They are lovely figures but may be smaller than most 15mm types. |
