The Apocalypse has come and only one rule set has survived. Which would you chose? (Yes, if you chose one that doesnt come with army lists you can also have separate army list books survive!).

It doesn't matter I will write my own (or make it up if paper is unavailable).

Rock, paper, scissors.

Or the stone age equivalent – stick, fire, water.

It will prove the most useful post apocalypse.

I rather think Real Life (tm) would get in the way of wargaming, and in any case you'd be getting more than enough actual violence. In which case I'm going to vote for some LARP rules in order to make the post-apocalyptic world safer.

AE-WWII. Highly adaptable to new settings, and it supports decently low model counts, too, since it'll be tricky coming by new figs.

For its well written, and reservedly humorous, text, 'Charge' by Brigadier Young and Colonel Lawford. The book captures all that is good and appealing in wargaming and avoids all the crap that undoubtedly caused the apocalypse.

The rules are simple and require few figures, which will be a useful trait after the big event. They also extol imagi-nations, which, given the loss of historical records, will also be a useful quality.

you will need to know the rules or you wont last long post Apoc.

You really need a set that can handle gigantic numbers of figures in a game. After all you only survived due to the excellent lead shielding from your enormous miniatures collection.

Also perhaps you can hack into the TMP membership records to find similar survivors (either to play or avoid, depending).

Grizzlymc03 Aug 2011 4:56 p.m. PST

Well also you would find all these cool minis whilst scavenging for food – so your collection would grow.

Yeees, fortunately I would be a long way from most TMPers.

Featherstone's Solo Wargaming suggests itself.
