Posted this on the Medieval Board, and didn't get any response, so thought I might try the Ancients/Gladiator Boards, as well as the Solo and Fantasy ones, since it appears they may have rules to cover that too.

Curious to see if anyone owns, or has played these, and what you think of them for Man-to-Man combat?

Do they include rules for various weapons, different armor types (plate armor, plate and chainmail mix, etc.), different fighter skill levels, two-handed fighting (say with a sword and a dagger), shields?

Do the rules permit more than one attack per turn, parrying with shield or weapons, dodging strikes, multiple attackers against one defender, etc.?

What type of inititiative and dice mechanics are used?

Your overall satisfaction with the rules?

To answer your questions: there are rules for various weapons, different armor (plate, chainmail, leather), different fighter skills (fighter, barbarian, assassin, etc.), two handed fighting (using two weapons at once, i.e. dagger, longknife) and shields.

The rules do permit more than one attack per action, parrying ability, and multiple attackers (no "dodge" rule per se but some skills do the same thing).

Initiative is card driven and dice are d6 and d20.

Finally, not many TMP subscribers have ordered the game. But if you are willing to write up a review (within the reasonable future) and post it here on TMP, message me with your email and I will send you a free copy of a pdf of the game.

Thank you for the kind offer.

I will take you up on that Dean, and will be happy to write up a review, since it sounds just like what I am looking for.

Sorry, can't respond directly, since I'm not currently a supporting member, due to tight finances, so hope you see this.

Sent you a PM a few days ago deanoware, but haven't heard back yet.

I'd be happy to read over, and review your rules, when you have the time to send them.

Forgot about this, since my life got a bit crazy a while back, after I received these rules.

I think they are an excellent choice for man-to-man, and small unit melees on the tabletop.

I'll need to go back to them, to refresh my memory a bit, and to provide a more in depth review, but I thought they were well laid out, and used logical mechanics to represent this type of action.

I had a few questions, and/or nits to pick, with the rules writer, but they were very minor, e.g. relative ratings of some weapons in relation to others (which can all be easily modified by the user, as desired).
