After speaking with some of you on this message board about a problem of not recieving what I purchased from NW, I made the decision to contact and lodge my gripe with the Georgia State Attorney's office. I have included in my letter to them this site's url so that they can all the posts for themselves. I havent heard back yet from them, so I cant tell you what they might or might not do. I would recommend you might want to do the same. The link is link To the guy who sent me the link from the mesage board on May 21, thanks for the tip. |

Moonwolf: On behalf of ripped off gamers around the world: Thank you! This has been long overdue so thanks for taking action. |

Good. I haven't been ripped off by New Wave myself (thanks to copious warnings through various sources), but I have been advocating that people take action to remove this particular cancer from the gaming community for some time. Hopefully, more will do the same and get them to fly right or take a hike. |

Since they have often attended Warfair in Atlanta in the past, I will see if they show up next week at the show. -Time Portal Hobbies- |

One thing I don't remember seeing mentioned before... do any of the local TV stations in New Wave's area have a consumer affairs reporter? The local "watchdog" in my city is almost scarily effective. She also seems pretty tight with one of the assistant state AGs. It's not a situation you want to get on the wrong side of. At any rate, if one of the local TV stations has a consumer affairs reporter, I'd consider getting them involved in this. |

Damned Grammar Nazi is never around when you need him. In to. Two words. For a moment there I thought New Wave had somehow bribed their way into office. Not a good precedent, just consider the possibilities: Games Workshop chosen as running mate for Bush! Wizards of the Coast granted seat on UN Security Council! Battlefront Studios wins local dog catcher race! Rich |

Good show, Moonwolf! But I'll remain cynical and I won't hold my breath to see if these NW thieves are affected in any way from your letter. It's worth a try, though... |
blackscribe | 10 Jun 2004 11:09 a.m. PST |
My recommendation is that you avoid contacting the TV stations. Otherwise, they'll find some nut who lives in a basement somewhere and talk to him about how his minis saved the free world while playing some sort of corny tune in the background. That's the good option. Otherwise, they'll go with the satanic child molester angle. |
Mako13 | 10 Jun 2004 9:28 p.m. PST |
Even worse, they'll declare your home a federal disaster area, due to the quantity of lead located on the property. |
Nukuhiva | 11 Jun 2004 2:50 a.m. PST |
I'll second the comments on the TV stations, they don't really care about anything other than getting a 'hot' story and their egomaniacal selves on the screen. Good move to report those rip off artists at New Wave, now if a couple of thousand other people would do the same, the state attorney's office might actually consider giving a damn. |

If one little old lady is ripped off for a thousnd dollars, then the TV and AG care. If several hundred are ripped off for $30 each, what's the big deal? Let's face it, a bunch of geeks not geting their Dark Eldar Bondage Queens is not very high on the outrage meter. They stiffed me a Blood Bowl rules manual. Do you think the AG in Georgia cares about some nerd in Pennsylvania being stiffed $25? He has politicians and drug dealers to go after. |
JWorley | 11 Jun 2004 5:42 a.m. PST |
Contacting a TV station doesn't mean you're going to be demonized or ignored. John Carroll stated they don't really care whether you got your figures or not. This is true, but even if you haven't been scammed for many thousands of dollars, they do sometimes look into it. The fellow I talked to at the time from a station in Eugene, OR said that they don't follow up every hit, but they do try to look into those where the victims have kept good records and made every attempt to resolve it otherwise. After one phonecall I had my figures in a few days. |
Moonwolf | 11 Jun 2004 2:51 p.m. PST |
I wish I did have good records. When I made the purchase online, the system didnt give me a receipt number to track with. I emailed NW for one, and all I got was a reply saying "we got your payment". Well, I know that much, since I'm the one in charge of my finances. After that, it went from getting a reply to "pretend nobody's home, and they'll stop calling" routine. Anyway, I'm sad to say I havent gotten a reply back from the AG office as of yet. |
Mlatch221 | 12 Jun 2004 9:27 p.m. PST |
Well, perhaps I should add a "your results may vary" disclaimer? Let me tell you, the local consumer affairs reporter and the state AG's office can create a nasty situation for you really quick. I saw this happen during the liquidation of the business of a relative who had died. The business was injoined from operating in the state and the crooked "friend" who was responsible for the wrong-doing got to continue running their own business with no harm done. This was over something much more trivial than what New Wave has been doing. Specifically, it was over the "creative" wording of some advertising. Considering that New Wave has repeatedly been accused of theft, mail fraud, wire fraud, credit card fraud and a whole host of other things I'm sure I've missed, outing them to the press still seems like a good idea to me. |

Just bitching to the A.G., governor, television stations, BBB, Chamber of Commerce, Royal Canadian Mounted Police (yes, they even get these types of letters), does not guarantee that they will do anything about it. Most of the time, people have to take their own initiative and file suit. This is expensive and in most instances not worth the time and trouble. Your best bet is to pay by credit card, and when the goods don't arrive write your credit card company to stop payment. Make sure you do this in a timely fashion, and don't count on the credit card company being all that helpful. |

Wow, it's been so long since I've seen a New Wave post here or on the mini yahoo groups I had assumed they had finally gone under. I guess not. |

Dont hold your breath , i got ripped off $300 USD from a dealer in the USA . I had proof a plenty , emails with the fellow saying he would send the stuff over and over and even saying stiff you aint getting your order . I sent complaints to his local police , and every other complaint i could online and off line , even got a lawer in the usa to try chase the case up . Nothing , nadda , zero happened . this is why i never buy anything from the USA . |

If you are overseas you can forget about getting any assistance from the police in getting this resolved. You would have to prosecute criminally for the police to get involved. That makes it a little difficult if you are abroad. The police don't enforce civil litigation over here. :-( |
stormseer88 | 11 Nov 2004 10:31 a.m. PST |
I think we will contact a lawyer and sue the in the name of the gaming community!!! Or launch a crusade against them!!! Oh, and call the police and that general attorney fella, would you? |
Griefbringer | 11 Nov 2004 12:56 p.m. PST |
"Or launch a crusade against them!!!" I can already imagine New Wave fortress-warehouse sieged by hundreds of angry gamers, lobbing in big rocks with a catapult until they storm it with siege ladders and battering rams and indulge in a three day orgy of looting and murder until torching up the whole place. ;-) Griefbringer |

To be honest, if you order without emailing them, you have a high chance of being ripped off. But me I ordered several hundred dollars from them and have never been dissatisfied. I always emailed them to check if it was in stock and sent an email saying I was going to buy it and when I was going to order and hten they'd be like "okay it's shipped in email." That's jus thow I did. |
Hacksaw | 11 Nov 2004 3:05 p.m. PST |
Georgia isnt that far from North Carolina. A Crusade within easy driving distance is one I would most likely join. Where should we rally, and what banner should we look for?

infojunky | 11 Nov 2004 9:04 p.m. PST |
Hey, has anyone ever thought to contact the manufactuerers of the producst you ordered and not receive from New Wave? Maybe a little presure on their suppliers might shake something loose. Just an idea. Evyn |
stormseer88 | 12 Nov 2004 6:31 a.m. PST |
What do you think about the banner of the Holy Order of Ripped-off,P-SSED Gamers! And how 'bout the closest MC'Donalds in case we grow hungry:-) But on the other hand we could start a witch hunt with the same purpose as the crusade! Burn 'em at the stake y'know:o/ |

One time I ordered a book from them and after a month I aksed about it, oh we shipped it yesterday, a week later they said the same thing, upon talking to the company who made the product, New Wave had three unpaid orders with them and refused to pay up. |

www1.ifccfbi.gov/index.asp It takes about a year but works. As long as the net was involved in the transaction. With their help I was able to finally pin down Don Semora/Janus/Meenlock/Goblin Games on the countless acts of fraud he committed..both in the Gaming and Airsoft communities. |
Beltayn | 11 Feb 2005 8:54 p.m. PST |
After several months of dead-ends, and having false accusations leveled against me by New Wave (they attempted to accuse me of 'threatening' them by adding a post from another poster on TMP, as an 'attachment' to some things they faxed to the Ohio AG's office- thanks to the Editor's assistance, we were able to clear that up), things finally worked out. Well folks, on 04 Feb 2005, I recieved a full refund for $172.60 USD from New Wave Mail Order. For those of you who are still looking for a refund, or have yet to file a complaint, contact- The contact information has been removed, since "...our office has concluded it's investigation of the company and will no longer be able to accept further complaints based on the fact that we are in litigation and or taking civil penalty action against same." |
Beltayn | 02 Aug 2005 12:49 p.m. PST |
I was contacted by the investigator last Thursday and was asked to post this. The State of Georgia has concluded it's investigation against the company, and is in the litigation process and taking civil action. The office is no longer taking complaints at this time, until the current action is settled. It seems that quite a few of you have contacted the investigators office; they have more then enough information, and basically they need to continue, unimpeded. What does this mean? PLEASE DON'T call the investigators office anymore. Let them do their job =) |
Dantes Cellar | 02 Aug 2005 5:10 p.m. PST |
Not to stir the pot or anything, Beltayn, but unless you're the Investigator himself and have the credentials to prove it, I don't think your request would carry much weight for those of us who were robbed out of our money. Anybody who was a victim of fraud by this company has a right to contact the proper authorities for a claim regardless of whether or not a TMP member claims the investigator says "the office is no longer taking complaints." That's just my two cents. |
Beltayn | 02 Aug 2005 6:07 p.m. PST |
You're absolutely correct, Dante. I feel that everyone should be able to seek justice as I did. Please bear in mind that I can't stop you or anyone else from contacting the investigators. I also have no control over anyone from these forums taking that previously posted contact information and spreading it elsewhere. Now, how people translate that
is entirely up to them
